"Are you sure your sister ended up here?" Odilon trying to find a young woman who was described to him only once.
"Yes, I am. She won't be hard to find. She is a young woman with turquoise blue hair."
The fair was in full swing. People were crowding around in both directions in order to find the best price. Besides the fair there was a big stage in the middle of the square with a band playing lively music. It was one of the most famous holidays in the region and for the revelers it was so good that even the rainy weather did not stop their fun.
One of the revelers stepped on Odilon's foot, making him furious; he tried to say something, but before he knew it the reveler had disappeared into the crowd.
"This is a great place to be in mourning." Shouted Odilon, trying to be heard amidst all that noise.
"What did you say?" Mikaela shouted even louder.
"I said... ah! leave it."
"Let's stick to Fiorella only." Polipedes pushed aside a partygoer who was about to bump into her from behind. "Would you rather separate or look together?"
"And what? I still can't hear anything?"
"I said" Shouted the sorceress. "you want to search together or separate."
Once again Mikaela couldn't understand anything.
"Ah, what the hell!" Spoke Odilon, walking out through the crowd.
"Where are you going?" Polipedes said.
"To get this clowning over with."
One of the streets parallel to the show was quieter. People had their stalls, but these received fewer customers, except for one that was busier.
"Look at that! You see how easy it is, just hit where the pearl is and you take the money." Said the charlatan mixing the three wooden mugs again. "Who will be the next to try to guess?"
"I saw that trick once before, but it was done with Solaria cards. It's not very difficult. I'll bet three bronze coins." Said a young woman in a black dress and half platform boots.
"Are you sure? You don't look like you know how to play girl."
"I know a lot more than you think I do, you jerk."
The man was really offended.
"If you're so lucky, pick a mug."
"It's this one." He pointed to the mug on the left. "You can open it!"
The surrounding crowd was surprised to see that the girl was correct. An older man decided to bet as well, saying:
"I'll bet five bronze coins on the mug the little girl chooses."
A woman, middle aged, decided to bet five coins... of silver.
"So that's ten coins. Five bronze and five silver." Said the man who was manipulating the game. "I'll bet two gold coins that you guys will lose."
"I'll bet you no, bro." Said the young woman. "Play on!"
The man shuffled the mugs so quickly that no human eye could see. People tried to follow his movements, but failed miserably. The girl kept a close eye on the trickster's movements, but didn't seem to care where he put the winning mug.
"What now? Where is it?" The boy smiled, showing his dirty teeth.
"It's right here!" He pointed to the mug in the center. "You can lift it up."
The audience was amazed at such a feat.
"Play one more time!" shouted a stranger in the background.
"It's bro! Play one more time!"
Everyone was laughing at the charlatan, who hadn't lost a game in a long time. The latter was very intrigued and at the same time angry at this situation.
He stirred the mugs again. His expression was serious, for he was not used to defeat. He finished shuffling and took his hands off the mugs, saying
"And now miss? In which of these mugs is the pearl?"
"In none."
The audience was outraged.
"How? It has to be in there...in some of them it has to be."
"Certainly, but it isn't. You couldn't bear to lose, so you removed the jewel, so that any mug I chose would be empty."
"That... that's outrageous!"
"Oh yeah! Then turn over the three mugs, sir. Turn them over right now."
"Pick one...." The charlatan choked on something and soon spat out a pearl, the pearl that was supposed to be hidden in one of the mugs.
"See! The man cheats. For you guys can't beat him."
"That's impossible. It was supposed to be hidden in my sleeves."
"And on top of that he has the audacity to confess to the deed with a straight face."
"How? How did you find out? Witch!" Shouted the deceiver. "She's a witch!"
"It's not my fault if you're a fucking cheater."
The man raised his arm to apply a correction to the girl.
"I'll take a rain check, buddy." Odilon held the cheater's arm firmly.
"And who are you? Her boyfriend?"
"No. I'm someone you won't want to see again. Come on, let's go."
Odilon kicked the charlatan's frame, knocking everything to the floor. The audience slowly dispersed. The man, covered in shame, picked up his things from the floor, while the young woman followed Odilon down an uncertain path.
"Have you gone crazy?" Mikaela lightly punched her sister's arm, "Playing guessing games in the middle of the public square, amidst a chased Azhard."
"I thought she was dead." He replied coldly.
"Not me." Odilon said, biting into an apple. "I didn't even know you until about three days ago."
"And you still don't." Fiorella retorted. "I... I cried for you. I missed you."
"Me too. But now we don't have time for reunions, we have to help Odilon and Polipedes."
"Let's see; I bought four medium bags of popcorn, for Frella I brought salty snacks. What were you guys talking about?" Polipedes said, filling his hand with caramel popcorn.
