"I stopped the arrow! I've become a real shaman!"
The maiden jumped up and down in joy when she saw the arrow that was aimed at the rider mysteriously disappeared.
She took the disappearance of the arrow as having unleashed her hidden shaman powers.
Lord Yoon, "What is that noise?"
The nobleman broke eye contact with Si-u to scout his surroundings.
He saw at a distance what appeared to be a peasant boy leaping for joy.
Si-u, "Lord Yoon, there was an arrow that was shot at you by one of the men that attacked us. I feared it was going to strike the back of your head. The boy may have had something to do with it."
Lord Yoon, "The peasant boy stopped the arrow? But why do I not see evidence that I was shot?"
Si-u, "The arrow broke into little pieces and disappeared. Lord Yoon."
Lord Yoon, "Did you see the person that shot the arrow?"
Si-u, "Forgive this imprudent servant. I merely sought for Lord Yoon."
Lord Yoon, "This is unbelievable, I have to speak to the boy myself! Come with me!"
The nobleman wore an expression of vexation as kicked the horse by its side and snapped the reins to turn the horse around.
Si-u left the ground and got on his horse to follow closely behind the nobleman.

The sound of racing horses reached the ears of the maiden. She turned and her eyes caught the familiar shadow of two riders.
"Those nobles are returning."
The maiden took to her knees again and kept her head to the ground.
Si-u and the nobleman stopped their horses about five feet away from the maiden.
Lord Yoon, "You peasant, do you know of the arrow that was fired?"
The nobleman's voice was sharp as a blade. He saw the body that was bowing tremble like a leaf.
The maiden felt her throat narrow in fear. One wrong word and that could bring her life to an end.
Si-u, "Have you no tongue? Lord Yoon asked you a question! Answer or pay with your life!"
Deeply upset by the silence perceived to be coming from a peasant boy; Si-u raised his voice in anger.
"My Lords, I mean no offense….it is true that I stopped the… arrow. I was born a shaman; the power I possess kept the arrow from spilling blood."
The maiden's voice quivered as she spoke to the noblemen.
Suddenly the cloud released a drizzle of rain. The tiny drops caused the ground and the grasses to become wet.
Lord Yoon, "Tell me your name!"
"My grandmother told me that my mother died while giving birth to a girl. I was not blessed to be bestowed a name at birth."
Lord Yoon, "You are just like Si-u. Very well, you shall be called Dan-bi. Do you have a place to go?"
"Dan-bi is thankful for giving me a name, but it will be shameless to ask my Lords for assistance."
Lord Yoon, "Si-u will ride with you to my home. You saved my life; this is the least I can do to repay your kindness."
Dan-bi got to her feet and was helped on the horse.
The horses wasted no time in galloping through the rain; happily as they set for the Yoon family house.
