After dropping off Itt, Mew took me for ice cream before going home.
When we arrived back home, Mom was in the kitchen with the housemaid cooking dinner.
"Ooh, dinner smells delicious." Mew looked like she was drooling.
When she tried to reach over mom's shoulder to steal a bite, her hand got whacked before she could do so.
"Don't you dare. Tonight's dinner will be for Nin." Mom scowls while pointing at Mew with a rolling pin.
"For Nin? How come?" Mew looked confused, at that moment, Nin came into the kitchen with P'Grit.
Mew looked from P'Grit to Nin and back again, "what..." she trailed off when Tut came into the kitchen.
"Wait, am I missing something here?" Mew frowns and looks over at my pouting face.
"The two of them are getting married." Tut clears the air immediately with a dry tone.
"Married.....?" Mew looked flabbergasted, "seriously?" Mew leaned in towards Tut, "and Blue was okay with that?" She whispers while sneaking a peak over at Blue.
Tut crossed his arms and leaned towards Mew, "believe me, I doubt he took it well." He whispers back.
Mew turned to look at Tut, "what about you?" She was asking him.
"I'm against it, I was relying on Blue's temper, but somehow he managed to be mature despite the news."
Mew looked at Blue in shock, though he couldn't hear what they were saying, "are we talking about the same Blue here?" She found herself wondering this out loud.
That night we celebrated Nin's engagement despite a few of us being against it.
After dinner, Mew and I went to my bedroom where I vented my displeasure about Nin getting married so young.
I was afraid that she was rushing into this and that I would never see my older sister again.
Mew stayed while I cried myself to sleep. She then went out of the room as quietly as possible.
Tut and Nin stayed outside the room waiting. Nin's face showed concern, "I guess he really couldn't take the news."
Mew frowns, "are you sure that you're ready for marriage? You thought about this?"
Tut agrees, "that's right, is he that great of a guy?" Tut turns to Nin while showing his concern.
Nin sighed, she understood how they felt, but she had never been more sure than this.
"Why can't you guys be happy for me like Mom?" She storms off.
Mew and Tut both sighed before splitting up to go to their rooms.
I stood by the door holding my teddy bear, clutching it tightly.
I slid down the wooden frame and let my tears fall freely. The thought of any of my siblings leaving made my chest hurt.
Wouldn't their leaving mean that I wouldn't see them anymore? Why did we have to grow up so quickly?
That night I fell asleep against my door, and when I woke up again, I woke up in my bed.
I went through the day as though it was a lucid dream. I went to school, came home, ate dinner, and then went to bed.
I repeated this for three days before Mew finally came to my room on the third night.
"Blue?" She tapped on my door before opening it slowly and entering.
I sat on the corner of the bed while huddled in a ball with my arms wrapped around my legs.
Mew sighed before sitting next to me and gathering me into a hug.
We said nothing for a while because I cried the entire time.
"That's right, let it all out," Mew said with a soothing and calm voice while smoothing the back of my head.
When I finally stopped crying, my eyes had gotten puffy, so Mew had to get me an ice pack.
"Blue, did you hate the thought of Nin marrying that much?" Mew stared down at her baby brother while still trying to comfort him.
I nod, "what if after Nin gets married, she forgets about me?"
Mew lowered her chin into his head while pulling him closer, "my Blue. I doubt that forgetting such a cutie is possible. Nin loves you very much, but getting married doesn't mean she loves you any less."
I sniffle, "but doesn't Mew agree with me?"
Mew thought about it and concluded, "yeah, but I think she looks happy. Nin's been brokenhearted every time since high school. So, I won't pretend I'm not worried that this relationship will turn out the same. The most we can do is wish for her happiness."
I knew she was correct since I remembered all the pain Nin went through. I was young and never understood, but I never wanted it again.
Those nights, Nin always cried in Mom's arms.
"I understand."
Mew leans me back so she could look me in the eyes, "how about I take you with me to an audition after your birthday?"
I was excited, "I want to go!"
It's been a while since I got to hang with Mew, so if she dragged me to a fashion show, I'd go.
She chuckles while pulling my cheeks, "I'm glad you stopped crying."
When she left, I finally fell into a deep slumber. This time, I'll happily congratulate my sister.
