People with different faces, clothes, personalities, and destinations come and go inside the airport. Some were waiting to see their loved ones from the arrival area, some are hugging and crying as they’ve reunited, while some are saying their reminders and goodbyes. These are all the things I observed as I stood beside my mom waiting for my dad’s arrival. The airport is indeed full of people with different purposes — some plans to go home, to go to another city for work, or to travel to another country.
I continued observing my surroundings until my sight bumped into a person who I think was also doing the same thing I did. I looked at him for awhile and retracted my gaze.
I then looked towards the arrival area to see that there were more people coming out. I guess my father’s flight had arrived. True to my guess, I could see my father’s tall build and handsome face walking out. His eyes are busy surveying the crowds of people, probably looking for us.
My mom waved her hands to get his attention as his eyes looked at the place where we currently stood. My dad smiled when he saw us. My mom held my hands and urged me to move and walk towards my father.
When we stood in front of my father, he immediately hugged my mother and said, “I missed you, wife.”
“I missed you too”, my mother replied as she hugged him back.
I stood there silently as they shared their longing for each other. I looked at them both silently until my sight blurred with tears. I could finally see my father again. I could finally see them both alive and well, and not as a cold and dead body. I walked to them and hugged them both.
They were both stunned as they turned stiff. My mother looked back at me and smiled.
“I guess your daughter also missed you”, my mother said as she put one of her arms behind me and patted my back. My father smiled and stroked my hair.
“Dad also missed my daughter”, he said smilingly.
I smiled and said, “Therefore, you should compensate me and mom for the next few days.”
He laughed and agreed. Mom also laughed because of what I said. I also laughed along with them.
As his laughter subsided, my father urged us to go home. So we walked side by side towards the parking lot, my mom and dad holding hands while I linked my arm with my mom’s elbow. We talked and laughed as we made our way out.
After arriving at the parking lot and finding our car, I opened the car door to the back. My eyes caught sight of another person across from me. It was the same person I made eye contact with inside.
He also looked at me and nodded. I nodded my head back as a greeting and finally bent down to get inside the car. My mom then started the car after securing that we had our seatbelts on.
