The next day Yongrae got up early and went to check on his friend Shaun before going on the date with Sunjung. He went to his dorm and took the stairs to his floor. He knocked on his door but nobody answered. At that moment the building administrator walked toward Yongrae.

“If you are here for mister Thompson, he is not here...”- said the building administrator.

“He told me yesterday that if anyone comes and looks for him, I should tell them not to worry about him...”- he continued, “He had some things to take care of...”

Yongrae was surprised by what he heard since Shaun didn’t tell him about this thing he had to take care of. Yongrae thanked the building administrator and left to go to the park, where Sujnung was waiting for him. On the way to the park, Yongrae got her some flowers since he couldn’t give her anything on the last date. He bought her a nice bouquet of mixed flowers and headed to the park.

Sunjung sat there and started looking around to find him. Soon after that, she noticed Yongrae coming and holding one hand behind his back. He smiled and waved at her from the distance while walking in her direction.

“Thank you for waiting!”- said Yongrae when he got in front of her.

“Don’t worry I just arrived...”- replied Sunjung while getting up from the place she was seated.

“This is for you since I couldn’t get you anything yesterday!”-said Yongrae while giving her the flowers. Sunjung looked at the flowers and felt touched by Yongrae’s gesture.

“Thanks, Oppa, I love them so much!”- said Sunjung, beaming happiness from her face, “Let me take them to my car.”

She took the flowers and went back to her car. In the meantime, she called Seojun to tell her about what happened.

“Seojun he brought me flowers!”- she said to her friend on the phone, sounding excited.

“That’s great!”- Seojun replied from her house, “Go back now don’t make him wait.”

Sunjun ended the call and then quickly let the flowers in the car. She got back to Yongrae and they both started walking towards the fast food place and Sunjung grabbed Yongrae’s arm on the way there. They bought the food and then they were seated outside in the open.

“Can we do something today that I always wanted to do?”- Sunjung asked him out of the blue.

“Okay…”- replied Yongrae, surprised, “What is it?”

“Have you ever heard of the 36 questions to fall in love?”- Sunjung asked him.

“Yes I have…”- replied Yongrae, confused.

“I thought for us to answer them together today.”- said Sunjung, “If you are okay with it…”

“Okay fine…”- responded Yongrae, without giving it much thought, “Let’s do it”

“Thank you oppa!”- said Sunjung, with happiness, “I’ll read the question and then I’ll answer first then it’s your turn to answer”

“Fine…”- said Yongrae, “Let’s start then!”

“First question.”- said Sunjung, “Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?”

“Either my favorite k-drama actress or my favorite idol singer…”- responded Sunjung to her question, “What about you?”

“I will choose Ricardo Kaka.”- responded Yongrae, “He is an ex-football player and my favorite one.”

“Okay, next question.”- said Sunjung, “Name three things you and your partner appear to have in common.”

“I think that we both like k-dramas, k-pop…”- Shyly responded Sunjung, “And we both like each other…”

“Yeah same here…”- replied Yongrae, feeling a little embarrassed by her claim.

“Next question.”- said Sunjung, “If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?”

“I guess I would like to fly…”- responded Sunjung, “What about you?”

“Hmm, I think I would like to be able to make peoples wishes come true so that there won’t be any more sadness…”- replied Yongrae while crossing his arms.

“Very thoughtful oppa!”- said Sunjung, “You want to be a shooting star then…?”

“Yeah, something like that…”, replied Yongrae with a shy smile.

They were getting more and more comfortable with each other as the time was going and continued the date with the questions that Sunjung suggested.

“Next question…”- said Sunjung, “If you could change anything about the way you were raised, what would it be?”

“I don’t think I would change anything to be honest.”- responded Sunjung, “I’m pretty happy with the way I was raised.”

As Sunjung was responding to that question, Yongrae started remembering moments from his childhood and his good mood started to decrease. All he could with of for that question was all the times he got scolded my Oliver, when he used to hear Chuncha cry alone in her room or when he was often alone in the house and looking at other kids play from his balcony because he had to study. He looked at Sunjung again and gave her a fake smile.

“I think the same as you…”- he replied to her, anxiously.

“Okay oppa, next question…”- said Sunjung, “What do you value most in a friendship?”

“I think being able to have trust and confidence in them”- responded Sunjung.

“Yeah, loyalty and honesty I think as well…”- answered Yongrae.

“Okay, next question.”- said Sunjung, “How close and warm is your family? Do you feel your childhood was happier than most other people’s?”

“My family is very warm and we are very close so I think that also influenced my happy childhood.”- responded Sunjung while Yongrae looked down and ironically smiled.

“Yeah, same here as well…”- said Yongrae with a fake smile.

“Okay oppa, next question…”- said Sunjung, “Complete this sentence: “I wish I had someone with whom I could share ...”

As Sunjung was about to answer, Yongrae looked lost in this thoughts and forgot that they needed to take turns to answer so he responded at the same time as her, coincidentally with the same words.

“My life with…”- replied them both at the same time.

“Sorry, it was your turn…!”- said Yongrae to her, embarrassed.

“It’s okay…”- replied Sunjung while making eye contact with him. After a few seconds they both looked away from each other, embarrassed by the moment they just shared.

“Next question.”- said Sunjung, trying to change the subject, “Tell your partner something that you like about them already.”

“I like the fact that you are thoughtful and sweet even though some people might not see it at first…”- responded Sunjung, while Yongrae was feeling guilty.

“I… I like that you are interested in others and their ‘world’, and ask questions and listen…”- replied Yongrae, while Sunjung was pretending to fix her hairs in order to not look at him, from embarrassment.

“Next question.” – said Sunjung, “If you were to die this evening with no opportunity to communicate with anyone, what would you most regret not having told someone? Why haven’t you told them yet?”

“I don’t think I have anything to say to anyone…”- replied Sunjung, “Maybe if things didn’t go as they went between us I might have regretted not sharing my feelings for you…”

While Sunjung was responding, Yongrae thought of his father and all the things he wanted to tell him during all those years but then he looked at her and smiled.

“Yeah, I think the same applies to me as well…”- he said to her.

“Next question.”- said Sunjung, “Of all the people in your family, whose death would you find most disturbing? Why?”

“Hmm, I think my father’s death would shock me the most”- replied Sunjung, “I have a very close relationship with him. He is my guardian angel you know…”

“I don’t know I have one on particular since I am an only child and I only had them since the beginning so I don’t know…”- replied Yongrae.

“Here in Korea I have only them also my uncle and my nuna…”- he continued, “My mother is an orphan so I don’t have other grandparents besides those I have in Canada.”

“It’s okay…”- replied Sunjung, “We don’t have to give a precise answer to all of them.”

“Okay then…”- said Yongrae, “I don’t have an answer for this one.”

They kept going and soon the questions ended and it seemed that answering and sharing their thought and feeling made them feel closer with each other. Sunjung’s idea was successful for the date. After the food and the questions ended, Yongrae looked at the clock and saw that it was past lunch time and it was time to go.

“Anyway it’s getting late, we should go now.”- he said.

“It’s okay!”-replied Sunjung, “I have permission to stay out as much as I want as long as I am with you.”

Yongrae felt embarrassed again from her words and started to look around to find a way to end the date. Fortunately for him, the weather was getting worse and it seemed as it could rain.

“Well it might rain soon and we don’t have umbrellas so…”- said Yongrae to her. She looked around and noticed the back clouds gathering around and that made her sad.

“Okay fine...!”- she replied sadly and then they both got up.

“I’ll walk you home!”- said Yongrae to her, trying to cheer her up forgetting that her driver is waiting for her. She didn’t say anything to Yongrae about the driver and texted him to leave since she will go home with him.

As they were walking closely by each other, their hands were getting close as well. Sunjung noticed that and tried to slip her hand in Yongrae’s to hold his hand. As she tried to do so Yongrae moved away from her since a tree was in front of them. Sunjung got very upset that she lost her chance to hold hands with him.

Soon after that, they arrived in front of Sunjung’s house and it was time to say goodbye to each other.

“It was great today, I had a good time.”- said Yongrae to her.

“Yeah me too!”- replied Sunjung while smiling shy.

“It’s Thursday tomorrow.”- said Yongrae, “Are you free?”

“Let’s go out Friday...”- responded Sunjung.

Yongrae didn’t understand the reason but agreed with her. They will have their third date on Friday. They said goodbye and went their separate ways, and again Yongrae started to feel sad and stop pretending.
