A bullet flew right beside my ear. If it was a little closer to my left eye, I would've been suffering. I safely dodged the bullets and pulled Jonas with me, hiding behind a car. My finger squeezed the trigger and shot back at them, carefully hiding behind the car with Jonas. As luck would have it, he was aiming to shoot them too. The glass shatters, pieces falling In the sky, I cover my head In time.
"I'll go a little closer to the bus so I can shoot them easier. It's extremely hard to get It right at this distance." He explained. Running out of bullets.
"Don't do that. Do you really want to get killed?" I asked.
"It's worth the try." As I heard his words, I whipped my head over my shoulder ready to state something sharp, however, my heart jumped In scare as I saw his left shoulder.
"You got shot," I spoke, shocked.
"Leave It," Jonas said uncaringly as he was holding the wound with his right hand, trying to keep the blood in his body.
"You are losing blood. If we don't leave right away, you are going to die." I explained, scared.
"For the world's sake. Forget about my wound!" He spoke stubbornly. Blood surged from the wound in his arm, dyeing his shirt crimson. Jonas looked like he was about to scream but hold It In.
"What am I supposed to do?" I questioned, panicky. I felt my feet and hands weaken from the scare.
"Go, don't just sit here. I'll be fine and will kill them before I die myself." He wished, his reaction astonished me.
"I'm not leaving you to die here, that's straight-up inhumane!" I denied his plan.
"You don't know or care? They are going to defeat you." He spoke and continued by saying "I am going to die anyway."
He got up to his feet with tears In his eyes. Somehow, he was still smiling.
I hope those tears mean something.
"Goodbye." He spoke before sacrificing himself. Pity haunted me but I had to keep strong.
"Farewell, I'll never forget your sacrifice," I spoke, trying not to cry.
I ran back to the center of Atoham city, regretting my choices as I heard the strong sound of gunshots echoing In the distance.
Why didn't you sacrifice yourself instead? Why let failure catch you?! You know what he said. As I found myself back In the center, I felt like the pressure was forcing me again, that time much worse than before so I stopped, hands resting on knees. Without realizing it at that moment, I felt a sharp pain hit my back and hand, ripping my sleeve before my flesh.
how wrong I was about everything.
Fortunately, the gun was still in my hand. Rapidly and without any hesitation, I executed the anonymous person who was behind my back. I directly heard how they fell - the sound made upon contact with the ground. I let my gaze down just to see them killed. Their face was...bloody. The pain in my back and arm was enormous. Because of It, I was certain they wounded me. I quickly touched my arm with my hand.
It was all games and fun before It all shattered,-
I looked at my hand and saw that my hand was full of my blood. I had never seen so much of my own blood, on my own hand. I endured shock and fear flowing through my body, that was a true nightmare. I heard a shriek coming from behind my back. Swiftly, I turned around and witnessed nothing.
- and It became a bloody nightmare, because of my mistake.
