Aiden's POV
I am so excited.
I finished lunch before everyone else so I could call my parents and tell them that I invited all of my friends and a few of their friends to come with us to Deerhurst. And to my newfound luck, they both said yes.
School has just ended and I am meeting up with everyone so that we can leave tonight. This whole thing was kind of rushed so we were super lucky that this is going to be a long weekend.
Once everyone arrived I told them about what we were doing. Scarlett's friends came as well as Aaron's so most of us were there.
After the discussion with all of them we figured out the driving and we organized how we would get to our houses to get our stuff. Then we would meet at my house before we would go.
"Oh my goodness I am so excited!" Said, Meaghan, as we went towards Rivers house first since it was the closest.
Meaghan, Ethan, River, and I were driving with Aaron in his car to go get our stuff while Scarlett drove her and her friends. Chris didn't need a ride since he had his own car so he would just drive to his place then pick up Ethan and River and bring them to my house since he had so much time.
"Yeah, I can't believe all of our parents said yes when you just told us," River went on to comment.
"Well, I am just excited to go to Deerhurst again. It was so much fun last time, right Aiden?" Ethan said.
"Yeah, Deerhurst is awesome," I agreed with a nod.
"Oh, we're here," Aaron said, grabbing everyone's attention. We all looked out the window to see that Aaron had stopped in front of River's house. River unbuckled his seatbelt and opened the car door.
"Ok see you guys in an hour," River said as he got out of the car. "Oh wait I am driving with Chris to your house right Aiden?"
"Yep, we will call you when he is about to arrive," I told him in my professional voice.
"Alright, bye," he smiled, slamming the car door shut.
"Bye," We all called after him.
"Ok," Aaron said as he drove away from River's house. "We're going to Ethan's place next right?"
"Right," Ethan said.
We continued to drive towards Ethan's place, enjoying the music that was playing through the car speakers.
Ethan got out shortly after and soon it was just Meaghan, Aaron, and I in the car waiting to get to my place.
"Thanks for driving me and don't forget to tell Mark and Jasmine about the trip," I told them.
"Will do, we will be here as soon as possible," Meaghan told me.
"Ok bye."
"Bye," they said back. I walked to my house quickly wanting to get the rest of my stuff packed.
"I'M HOME!" I called once I got into the house. My mom walked into the foyer and smiled when she saw me.
"Oh hi, honey when are your friends gonna be here?" My mom asked me.
"In around an hour, I am going upstairs to finish packing ok?" I asked not really needing an answer.
"Alright, be quick," my mom added, reaching her hand out to ruffle my hair.
I rushed up the stairs going into my room to see Mason packing up his clothes as well.
"Hey Mason, did mom tell you already?" I asked as I went to my closet, grabbing my half-filled suitcase and putting in more clothes along with my swimming trunks and sweater.
"Tell me what?" He asked, confused.
"Oh, well I invited my school friends to join us and they are bringing a few of their friends as well," I told him briskly.
"What? Which friends?" He asked me.
"Umm . . . Ethan, Scarlett, River, Aaron, Meaghan, Chris, Rachel, Courtney, and Mark and Jasmine. You know, Meaghan's younger siblings?" I said, counting them off on my fingers and realizing how many people were coming.
"W-wait, M-Mark Tyler is coming!?" He stuttered out.
"Yeah . . . are you alright?" I asked, a little concerned about his stuttering.
"Yeah I-I'm fine," he said, dropping his head and staring straight at his clothes.
I turned around to face Mason and crossed my arms to look more threatening.
"Mason, there is obviously something going on with this Mark kid so just tell me," I sternly said.
"No, it's fine, it's nothing," he slowly mumbled.
I let out a sigh.
We usually talked about almost anything so the fact that he was keeping something from me was bothering me to no end.
I turned around and started packing up my clothes again. No matter how much I wanted him to be honest and tell me what was up, I couldn't force my little brother, so I left him alone.
After I finished packing my stuff forty-five minutes had already passed so I group texted everyone to see if they were done yet and to see if any of them were on their way.
Meaghan texted me saying that she and her siblings were just about to leave and Rachel texted, saying that Scarlett was on her way to her and after that, they were going to get Courtney before they came to my house. Ethan texted after five minutes to tell me that they had gotten River and that they were coming so all I had to do was wait.
And by wait, I mean to tell my family to bring their stuff downstairs and jump around excitedly in the living room like a five-year-old.
I heard a knock on the door and rushed towards it in record time, opening it to see Mark and Jasmine standing in front of it with big smiles on their faces.
"Hey Mark, hey Jasmine. It's great to see you again come in," I greeted them in my best host voice. It really was spectacular and I knew that my mom would be proud if she heard me.
They had barely walked in before Mason came running into the main area and stopped to see them standing there.
"Mason?!" Jasmine gasped, sounding a lot more than surprised.
"Yeah?" Mason answered with a tiny smile growing on his face.
"Oh, my God!" Jasmine screamed before she made a mad dash to Mason, hugging the daylights out of him. "Mason! What are you doing here!?"
"Well I guess Meaghan never told you but Mason is my brother, he already knew you were coming," I told Jasmine and Mark clearing everything up.
"Oh my god that is crazy! Oh, my god, this is going to be so much fun!" Jasmine screamed squeezing Mason.
Mason giggled and squeezed her back before he froze and looked at Mark, blushing a bright pink.
"Umm . . . hey Mark," he slowly said in a quiet tone.
"Hey, Mason. What's up?" Mark said, flashing a smile in Mason's direction. I would have thought he looked like a playboy if the smile wasn't so genuine looking.
But Mason obviously noticed the smile since his pink blush turned blood red.
"Nothing really man, I'll talk to you later," Mason rushed out with a nervous smile before he took Jasmine's hand and pulled her towards his room.
"Ah, wait! Shoes!" I yelled, stopping the two 5th graders from going upstairs. Jasmine quickly pulled off her shoes and held them in her hand before running off with Mason up the stairs again.
Hmmm . . . interesting. I will have to ask him about that later.
"Hey Aiden, sorry we took so long we were just parking the car," Meaghan said as she walked in with Aaron right behind her. "Oh, where's Jasmine?" I curled my pointer finger towards me, telling her to come closer.
"Come with me," I told her, sending a soft host smile to the Tyler boys. "You guys can just head into the living, room my dad is in there watching TV."
Meaghan, Aaron, and Mark all took off their shoes and laid them out neatly near the front door before Aaron and Mark walked off into the living room.
Aaron caught my eye as he and Mark were walking away and I felt my cheeks heat up. I shook my head and walked into the kitchen quickly with Meaghan following me. When I was sure no one was listening I started to speak.
"When Jasmine and Mark walked in Mason came rushing in and it seems that Jasmine likes him because she started hugging him and screaming that they were going to have so much fun," I said in a half-whisper. "But then when Mason looked at Mark he started blushing for no reason and after Mark said hello and smiled at him, Mason blush even harder before dragging Jasmine to his room," I finished.
Meaghan soaked in all the information and when she came to a conclusion she looked at me apologetically.
"Is there anything else you can tell me about how Mason reacts to Mark?" She asked calmly.
"Yeah, the first time I told him about me going to your house he stuttered, surprised that I went to Mark's house. And when I told him Mark and Jasmine were coming he stuttered even more about the fact that Mark is coming. I have no idea what is happening and he won't tell me anything," I told her, throwing my hands up in frustration.
"Ok . . . let me ask you this. If Mason was a girl and not a boy what would you think all of this meant?" She asked me again.
"Well, I would think that Mason had a crush on-"
Then it hit me.
OH
MY
FUCKING
GOSH
OH.THE.GREAT.DEPRESSION
HE HAS A CRUSH ON MARK
"Oh, Shit," I whispered quietly.
"Yep," Meaghan sighed.
"Wow, this is crazy, what do I do?" I blurted, turning to Meaghan for help.
"Nothing," she told me.
"What do you mean nothing!" I whisper yelled. I sounded like a crazy bitch but I couldn't help it because I was freaking out like a crazy bitch too.
"Look, I don't think you can get in the way, especially when it's between two boys, so you should just support your brother and hope for the best," Meaghan explained, patting my shoulder and giving me a smile.
"Yeah, your right," I sighed, accepting her advice. "I just hop-" I was interrupted by a knock on the door. I ran to the door, opening it to see Scarlett, Courtney, and Rachel at the door looking excited and cheerful.
"Hey, Aiden," Rachel waved with a grin.
"Hey guys, come on in," I smiled, putting my host voice to use again. I stepped to the side so that the three girls could all walk in. They slowly entered one by one and looked around the inside of my house.
"Nice place," Courtney said, nodding her head in appreciation.
"Thanks," I replied with a smug smile. It was a little bit awkward having to tell the three girls that they had to take off their shoes but they were all cool about it and by the time they finished Meaghan came into the main area.
The girls started chatting a bit, talking about their plans for the weekend before taking it into the living room. I was about to follow them when I heard another knock on the door.
I went to open the door but before I could Ethan was.
"Hey, Aiden!" Ethan said after he opened the door. I saw River and Chris standing on either side of him and smiled at all of them.
"Hey, guys come in," I said, relaxing my host voice a bit. They didn't need to be told again and quickly walked into the house.
After they took off their shoes and added them to the pile we all went into the living room to see everyone except for Mason and Jasmine talking and watching TV.
Everyone mingled for a little bit and were enjoying each other's company when my dad silenced everyone and nodded for me to speak.
I told everyone that we had to go and was relieved to find that everyone brought their bathing suits and anything else they might need so we wouldn't have to go back and get anything.
"MASON! JASMINE! TIME TO GO!" I screamed from the bottom of the stairs while everyone started to get up, prepared to go.
Mason and Jasmine came running down the stairs giggling and laughing the whole way down. Everyone went outside and started getting into their assigned cars to start the three-hour drive to Deerhurst Resort.
