"Alright, let's see what we have here...
Jack examined the phone from the outside before turning it on. It was just a small phone, but it didn't seem old, indicating its importance. Jack then turned it on and was surprised to find that it was not protected by a password or any kind of security. It seemed that the owner was negligent in that regard. Without wasting time, Jack proceeded to check the contacts and discovered several numbers he knew nothing about.
It seemed like this would take some time. Jack sighed, considering the amount of time he would spend verifying all these numbers while maintaining confidentiality. At that moment, a system window popped up above him, displaying a few sentences:
'If the user is in trouble, they can ask the system about anything, and the system will answer based on the user's strength.'
"Hmm?" Jack was a little surprised as he read those words. Could this really be true? Well, I don't think the system would lie for fun, so it must be true. But the ability to answer anything is... a bit exaggerated in my opinion. At least the price to benefit from this feature should be very high, or the system won't acknowledge my strength and won't answer 90% of my questions.
Jack assessed the situation based on his experience and concluded that this feature was not his favorite, but he decided to give it a try nonetheless.
"Is the user ready?"
"Yes," Jack didn't hesitate to answer.
Then, a bright light appeared, and the status window popped up. Jack focused on it and noticed a change. A new box had been added below the tasks box, labeled 'Knowledge Points.'
'Knowledge Points: 100'
Jack pondered this sentence before questioning it. 'Knowledge Points allow you to ask questions and get answers if your points and power level are sufficient to bear the cost. The used points will be deducted from your balance.'
Jack placed his hand on his chin, deep in thought, and mumbled to himself, "So, knowledge points are like the number of financial coins I have, and my power level is like the bag carrying those coins... Oh, that's bad." Jack raised his hand to his face, realizing the extent of the poor analogy he used.
Jack stole a glance at the system and then nodded his head. "Alright, then tell me among these numbers, what is related to the terrorist organization?" Jack didn't have high hopes, but he was hoping for at least a hint.
"The number you are looking for is xxx-xxxx-xxxx-xx. Five knowledge points have been deducted from your balance."
Jack stood silent for a few moments before speaking in doubt, "Is that all?" The system answered, 'Yes, and the user can also request to obtain the geographical location based on their number.' Jack didn't understand the meaning of this sentence.
"There are factors that affect the quality of the answer. If the user has some previous information about their question, the cost will be lower. Or they can get an answer to a previous question that they were unable to bear." Ah, now I understand... it's just cheating. I feel like I don't want to know the kind of things I'll face once I exit this world... just a complicated assistant.
Jack then asked about their location and received the coordinates after deducting 10 knowledge points from his balance. Jack looked at those coordinates and decided to go tomorrow since the house would be empty due to his father being at work and Emma and Mom going shopping together.
The next morning, Jack woke up early and prepared himself to go to that location. As Jack approached the coordinates, he noticed that he was in a strange and creepy neighborhood, where hungry eyes were staring at him. Jack reached a dead-end and examined his surroundings, finding a nearby sewer drain. He entered the sewer and continued his way. After walking for a while, he started hearing voices that sounded like people talking among themselves."
"You're interested in the rear, and I'm in the front."
"Don't forget about the weapons. We need a shipment for next month's operation."
"Yes, I know. Oh, that damn mask decides to blow up his place when we ask for something."
Jack listened to their conversation, a small smile forming on his face. "I found you."
His stealth skills were still in a lull period, but that didn't bother Jack because he wanted some action, not to act as if he didn't exist. So he waited for the two men to return to their base to start the show. Sure enough, Jack followed them without their knowledge. Finally, he saw the entrance. It wasn't anything remarkable, just a large iron gate with some guards outside. First, he used the classic trick of creating a sound by throwing a stone, and to his astonishment, both guards moved towards the sound.
"I just hope these two are suffering from Down syndrome, and the rest at least have some thinking capacity," Jack muttered, disappointed that his entrance would be this simple and trivial. Once inside, Jack hid in the corners and waited for someone to pass by to take their identity. After ten minutes of not seeing anyone, he decided to wander around to kill boredom. One of the men passing in front of him noticed him and raised his fist in the air, but the person wearing bandages to conceal his face didn't seem to care about him and continued walking, ignoring the man. In a confused state, the man thought that he might be a member who was hiding his face due to an accident or something similar.
The secret is simply to act with confidence. Acting as if you own the place always makes people think you belong in all the different worlds. They would only assume that you're the owner of the place. So, by walking openly without showing any emotions, Jack passed by many people without arousing suspicion. While walking past the personnel, Jack finally caught sight of an intensely guarded area and knew that confident behavior wouldn't help him enter that area. Perhaps it was the weapons storage? Despite the temptation, the weapons would have to wait for another day because today Jack needed to gather as much information as possible before destroying this place to complete the mission.
"Alright then, where will I find the command center?"
"Hey, you! Who are you, you bastard, and what the hell are you doing here?"
Finally, someone called out to him—a young man with a scar on his face. Apparently, he was the only one who noticed the strange person who literally walked among the soldiers without being stopped. The young man, huh? He seems to be poor and has a painful past, but I don't have a fox inside me, so I don't care.
Jack looked at him coldly and said in a deep voice, "Is this how you talk to those who are more important than you, you failure?"
"Huh? Wha-... This..." The young man was taken aback by this reaction and didn't know how to respond until he heard a sigh from the other party and saw the fierce look on their face.
"Listen carefully. If you interfere in my work again, I will skin you alive and throw you to be eaten by dogs while you're still alive. And before you die, I'll treat you in the most severe ways, even before burning you and throwing you into the river to drown there with the factory waste."
The young man froze in fear and started stammering heavily. Jack sighed and lifted his head, saying, "Do you even know where the command center is, you scum? Accompany me there so I can teach you some respect."
"I-I'm so, so sorry, sir. I-I-uh..."
"Shut up and lead the way before my patience runs out."
"Yes, sir," the young man spoke barely restraining his tears. Imagine someone telling you to lead the way to the place where they'll punish you. He must be under immense pressure, poor thing.
With that, Jack headed towards the headquarters.
