Uruko (the tall one in green) and Fukuro (the one with a beard) break into the shrine of the Estate-by-the-Sea, robbing the Lady Janome of her wealth and a great green bell she keeps with her. The boys make an effort not to kill anyone, as their Captain intends on making the Estate a frequent target of their bullying and extortion racket. Uruko brings the bell to the Captain, overjoyed to have found what he thinks to be a bell of solid jade, something made for an Emperor or a King; only to be told that it is old copper. A storm rolls in and out depending on how the bell is rung, though the pirates have yet to discover this. The Captain chastises the brothers for wasting his time and orders them back to the boat.
A fun little pitch for something that could've been.
A pitch project we worked on in an attempt to get picked up by a company. Ultimately nothing came out of it. But it was fun in retrospect, and led to us working more on other smaller ancient Japanese type projects. These are the only 12 pages that exist for this, there's nothing more to come (unless it somehow picks up huge interest). We're putting here simply for back-up and to see what people think.
For more info, I wrote a retrospective here: http://comicthinking.tumblr.com/post/132150806486/wako-project-retrospective
