👉👌Luke's POV👌👈
Layla and I entered the cafeteria quickly heading over to the ridiculously long lunch line for something to eat.
I was lazy today and thought it would be a good idea to just get lunch here.
No offense to the cooks but I am starting to regret it.
"Gosh, I actually can't remember the last time I had to get lunch from the cafeteria," I said to Layla in disbelief.
She thought for a moment.
"Probably five months ago when you woke up late for school and just had to rush out of the house," she supplied.
"Oh yeah," I nodded, my memories suddenly coming back. "My family went to visit our cousins for the long weekend and we got back after one. No wonder I woke up late." We moved forward in line nearing the front.
"Totally understandable. Sleep is life, I probably would've arrived like half an hour before the final bell," Layla paused suddenly thinking. "Actually scratch that, I would've skipped."
I laughed out loud at that. Earning myself a side eye from the lunch man currently scooping up mashed potatoes for the girl in front of us.
I think his name was Dave but I wasn't sure.
"Hey Dave," I greeted him, flashing my best smile and hoping I got his name right. "How's it going?"
Dave gave me a look but I assumed it was just natural sass since he didn't say anything about the name.
"Hi," he drawled boredly, pulling the spoon out of the potatoes. "You want potatoes?"
I stared down at the pale white slop.
"I'm gonna give it a pass. Thanks for asking though," Dave just put the spoon back into the mashed potatoes, not saying another word as he looked at Layla instead.
Guess we're done talking.
"Hey kid," I heard Dave say right before I moved completely past him. "The name's Rob."
I felt myself flush when I realized that I completely messed up his name.
"Right, Rob. I'll be sure to get it right next time!" I promised the man, but by then he was already ignoring me again.
Well that was fun.
I moved down the line, getting pizza, soda, and some yogurt thing.
All important parts of a nutritious breakfast.
Obviously.

Telling everyone about Hunter and I's brilliant plan was actually pretty uneventful.
Yes they all were excited but it wasn't nearly as explosive as it should've been.
And yes I am overreacting.
We agreed to go out the following weekend. The specific area of downtown usually had a lot to see, and tons of free food.
Plus Damien went online and it seemed as if they were going to have a street festival so it seemed like the perfect time to go. And after that we would probably look around for a Chinese restaurant.
I also made it clear that we would pay for our own dinner, we didn't want any misunderstandings.
My eyes connected with Conner's for the seventh time in the conversation and I briefly wondered if I was staring.
Yeah,
Probably.
Conner’s gaze was magnetic so because I didn't look away fast enough I was stuck staring into his eyes. Gosh, what was he even thinking about?
He opened his mouth like he was about to speak but closed it again when Kian spoke.
"Wait, so Aubrey won't pay for my food?" Kian looked seriously surprised as he asked. "What sort of gentlewoman is that?!"
Aubrey gave a hard roll of her eyes while the rest of us just laughed. Kian was still shaking his head at having to pay for himself but he soon broke character and joined the rest of us in laughter.
"But seriously though, this will be a hard blow to my wallet," Kian told us, sighing as he stroked his back pocket.
"You have like four thousand dollars in your bank account and an allowance," Damien argued, gesturing at Kian's Tommy Hilfiger shirt.
"Ok, the four grand is for college, and I have to save my allowance for dates and condoms Damien. You should know this by now," Kian explained. Everyone at the table avoided mentioning Kian's basically "whorish" ways and opted for talking about our favorite Netflix and TV shows.
It was a lot more interesting and a lot less fight starting.
"Sherlock Holmes is the best crime solving show ever created," Sean stated proudly. "The crimes are always cleverly done and the character's personal drama never gets out of hand. It is just the best."
Damien, Layla, and Kian seemed to agree but Aubrey was having none of it.
"What are you even talking about?" she frustratedly asked. "Criminal Minds is clearly better."
"Yes, thank you Aubrey," I said, reaching over the table to give her a high five.
"No, Sherlock Holmes is better," Damien crossed his arms over his chest, his expression turning sour.
"I'll have to disagree buddy," Conner threw his arm around my shoulder as he spoke. "I agree with these two, Criminal Minds all the way."
Before someone from the Sherlock Team could disagree again, Hunter cleared his throat.
"Ok, I would like a show of hands. Who here has watched Criminal minds?" Conner Aubrey and I raised our hands. "And who has watched Sherlock Holmes?" Layla, Damien, Sean, and Kian raised their hands. "So none of you guys have seen the other show, yet you insist that yours is better? You know that counts as ignorance right?"
We all silently nodded, actually looking like scolded children.
We all returned to our food in silence, chewing our food and sipping our drinks.
"But just for the record, which show do you prefer?" Sean asked Hunter, breaking the silence.
We all eagerly looked at Hunter waiting for his answer.
"Out of the two?" He asked innocently. We all groaned collectively saying things like, ‘Yes,’ ‘Obviously,’ ‘What else would we be talking about you idiot!’ That last one was still a mystery. "Ok, ok. Umm . . . Criminal Minds?"
Though he answered with a question mark he still said so Aubrey and I shot out of our seats to do multiple double high fives in celebration. While Conner just leaned back in his seat, his face was nothing but smug.
The rest of the table seemed slightly put out but we were soon joking about mystery shows in general, completely forgetting our dispute.
I looked in Conner's direction.
I really wanted to ask him what he wanted to say earlier but it obviously wasn't the right time. So I stayed quiet and continued to joke around with our friends.
