“I'm fixin’ to know the rest, but I believe that's enough for today.” Officer Bar sighed, “Wait!” Jasper cried out, “no Jasper, you need to rest! It's better to tell it piece by piece so you can process it!” Zoey stated, Jasper frowned; he had just wanted to see Rosa now. “But-” Jasper was cut off by Officer Bars radio, there was some static then a male voice came out “ Officer Bar we need you come down to the waiting room” “Roger.” Officer Bar repeated back. “I gotta get going y'all, we'll talk later.” He waved and walked out the room, leaving Jasper and Zoey alone. His footsteps echo as he walks down the empty hall, it's late Officer Bar wondered what his colleague wanted? He turned the corner, started walking down the stairs. With a sigh made his way to the waiting room letting out a yawn. Scanning the room an officer waved him over “ Hey sorry to call you! A doctor wanted to talk, he said it's important.” Officer Bars colleague explained. “ Which doctor?” “The one taking care of the girl in the ICU.” Officer Bar nodded, “Where is he?” his colleague scratched his head, “Lord have mercy on you!” Officer Bar was tired, and now the man who called for him wasn’t even there. “ I'm sorry! He-”  Both their walkietalkies went off “We got a code M in the ICU, room three fourteen.” A woman's voice said. They looked at each other “that's the girls room right?” “Yes!” They bolted up the stairs straight into the elevator, Officer Bar pressed the third floor button. “We’re lucky this is a small hospital.” Officer Bar sighed, DING the elevator doors opened. 

They rushed down the hall entering the room, Officer Bar scanned the room. Some nurses were trying to keep the girl on the bed calm, She kept trying to rip out her IVs. He looked to his colleague and motioned him to wait outside, walked in and closed the door. “Hello I'm Officer Bar, I'm here to help you.” he approached slowly, she was trying to speak but couldn’t, Is she in shock? he thought. “Your name is Rosa right?” She looked up at him terrified nodding her head, she pushed the nurses away inching to the head of the bed hugging herself. “Hey it's okay, you're safe here, we’re at a hospital. I have just a couple of questions, but first we gotta have the nurses do a check up, is that okay?” He slowly approached the bed, she tried to respond but nothing came out. He noticed she was shaking, he sat on the bed “Can y’all get the doctor?” He looked at the nurses, they nodded and left, leaving him and her alone. “You just woke up, maybe with some rest your voice will come back?”

 He looked at her and she just shook her head, He felt awkward, he didn't know what to say. “Well, I S’wanee the doctor is still not here yet!” She finally looked at him but in confusion, “What did I say?” She laughed silently, He scratched his head whatever he did it worked. He noticed she was rubbing her eyes “I reckon you get some sleep.” He stood up heading to the door but something tugged on him, he turned around to see she had grabbed his jacket. She shook her head, “what's wrong?” He was confused, this whole situation was just weird to him. The boy was annoying and something was off about him, but the kid here nothing seemed off. “I’ll stay then, right in that chair.” She let go, He proceeded to make his way to the chair next to the bed, “I’ll be here the whole time.” He awkwardly smiled. She started to make gestures, pointing to her pom writing on it with her finger. He was confused at first but understood what she meant “You can borrow my notepad and pen.” He reached in his jacket pulling the items out, handing them over to her. She struggled to write and kept taking breaks rubbing her hands “After this you must rest, okay.” she nodded, finishing up. She handed them back to him, he looked down at the notepad reading “are the others okay? Well they only found you and two boys.” She looked surprised, “I answered you, now I want you to rest.” she nodded, moving to lay down. “I promise everything will be answered, but first I want the doctor to do a checkup and for you to rest.” she nodded, pulling the sheets over herself and closing her eyes, slowly drifting off to sleep. Couple minutes later the doctor walked in, “ Sorry to make you wait, a patient needed me.” “It's fine, how is she? Because I noticed she couldn't speak and had problems writing.” He crossed his arms glancing at the sleeping girl, “it's better to talk outside, I don't want to wake her.” “It's fine, I promised to stay in here with her” “if that's what you want, Well for starters yes she has aphonia from strangulation, I suspect her voice will come back and since she hasn't moved in two years of course it's going to be painful to do certain things.” “In general she's gonna be okay?” “For sure, there's already progress of healing but I would like to run some tests and do another checkup when she wakes up.” 

“That's fine, but do y’all have any unused tablets? I would like her to have one for speaking.” Officer Bar looked at her, she was still asleep,”Yeah I can get one since we’re low on staff.” The doctor walked out closing the door behind him, a couple hours later everything was finished, Rosa got her checkups and tablet. The checkup results did not change. Officer Bar was surprised, he looked over at Rosa who was laying down messing with the tablet. “So does it work?” he said awkwardly, she pressed the volume to the max then typed. A robotic voice came out “yes, I have a question.” “Shoot,” he replied. “So who were the two you found?” “Ah straight to it I see, well we found a Jasper Hunter and Liam Perez.” She shook her head breathing in and out trying to calm herself, started tapping away on the tablet “You said Jasper?” “yeah, what's wrong?” She stiffened up. “Spill the beans kid.” Officer Bar moved his chair close to the bed to face her “What's wrong kid, come on it's okay to tell me” She looked at him then stared down at the tablet. “He's crazy.” 

“What do you mean, Can you explain?” he leaned in as if she was whispering, she started to type but dropped the tablet ,her hands flew to her head. Officer Bar jumped up, “what's wrong in pain?” She nodded, Rosa didn't know why but when trying to explain her head started to throb. She pushed the tablet towards Officer Bar, he picked it up reading the word gone. He was confused but for now his priority was her health. She knew more about what happened, for sure but maybe she was the key to make Liam Perez talk. He walked out calling for a nurse, and his colleague responded “Is everything ok?” He looked over and Nurse Jasmine was coming his way “Yeah, her head just hurts” He waved Nurse Jasmine in closing the door behind them. Nurse Jasmine walks up to Rosa which is now sitting up holding her head “What's wrong sweetie?” She doesn't answer, Officer Bar chimes in “I was asking her questions, but one question made her head start hurting.” Nurse Jasmine put a hand to her chin, “what question did you ask?” “It involves my investigation.” Nurse Jasmine rubs Rosas back “okay, tell me because if I dont know its going to be hard to help her.” “Okay fine but keep it between us and I don't want anybody in this room unless it's you or the doctor.” Nurse Jasmine brows furrowed “okay, but you better explain” He sighed. “I told her about the survivors, she started to act strange when I mentioned Jasper. I asked her to explain but her head started to hurt'' he handed her the tablet. Gone, she read, Nurse Jasmine looked up at him “what does that even mean?” “ I don't know just whatever you do, don’t let the boy in here. He seems so obsessed with her, I wasn't even able to tell him about the other survivor.” He moved to sit in the chair, “that's kinda weird but are sure he’s not just being worried about a friend?” Nurse Jasmine walks out of the room then comes back with a pill and cup of water. “Here take this it should help with the pain” Rosa takes the pill and water from Nurse Jasmine, puts it in her mouth she drinks the water, immediately her hands fly to her throat. She starts to cough “hey you okay?” She nods, Nurse Jasmine pats her back “she's going to have a hard time swallowing for a while” he passes Rosa the tablet “how's your head?” She picks up the tablet and starts to type “better, but now my throat hurts.” “Can I ask you my questions now?” “Sure, but tell me about how Liam’s doing.” “That's fine, can you tell me what you mean by gone?” “yes and no, there's something else there but it's fuzzy” Nurse Jasmine asks “what do you mean by something else?” Rosa pauses for a moment before starting to type “I don't know how to explain it, but everytime I try to look back it's all a big blur, but I can feel hands around my throat.” Nurse Jasmine eyebrows furrowed, “Can I talk to you real quick Officer Bar.” “Uh sure?” “Well be right outside” Nurse Jasmine smiled towards Rosa, Nurse Jasmine grabs Officer Bar by the collar dragging him, shutting the door behind them. “Are you kidding me, out of all the questions to ask you pick the ones that bring back trauma!” “Well it's not my fault, I'm only looking for answers!” “Well-” Nurse Jasmine was interrupted “you guys want me to go?” They both turned around to see Officer Bar colleague shifting in place, “No it's fine, just ask less tense questions okay Officer Bar.” He sighed “I'll try my best”  They re-enter the room “Is everything ok?” Rosa typed “Yes, we were just wondering if there's any little thing you can recall?” Nurse Jasmine nudged him, “well i'm interested and your friend told us about the bug monster” Rosa typed, “Bug monster?” Rosa rubs her temple. She closed her eyes trying to find any memories, the more she thought the more her head pounded, but she knew she was close until it hit her.
