Watcher of Galaxies : the Wishing Star

The distress signal - end

The distress signal - end

Jun 27, 2025

Rein and Gaby’s team returned to the village while his team waiting in their ship on the other side of the cave. Gaby and her team bid farewell to the locals. By the sound of their chirping, the locals were sad seeing them leaving, the smaller one even hugging their legs. Gaby waving her hands at them; Olivia sang a song for the smaller one, one last time.

Randy sighed “I’m going to missed them..”

A loud howling from the distance alerted Gaby and her team, the locals were terrified.

“Gaby!” Olivia muttered.

“I know..” she shouted “Dearka, go find them!”

Gaby waved at the leader and told her team to get the weapon while she led the children to the largest hut near the beach.

“What is it?” Rein followed her.

“Those creature! They’re coming back!” Gaby wailed, waving at the children to entered the hut before telling him to helped barricade the door.

“Gaby!” Randy arrived and handing her a wooden spear “They are at the fence, one of them is huge!”

“Let’s go! Have you told the other to do it just like last time?”

“Yeah, we pouring it near the fence..”

“Is there any weapon for me?” said Rein “i’ll help too!”

Randy gave him a stone axe. He followed Gaby and Randy while contacting his ship.

“Cade! Anyone! We need your help!”

“What is it Rein?” Eleanor asked.

“The village is under attack!”

“Who’s attack?” Dianna asked.

“Those creature!” Hestia wailed.

“Okay! We’ll be right there!” replied Kincade “Laylah! Get our weapon! Told everyone to get ready!”

Turning off the comm, he could hear the commotion ahead. Several black creatures with beak were tearing the fences apart before pouring inside. Dearka waved at the locals to threw stones which made a crackling noise and burned the red powder on ground, creating wall of fire between them. It works, they were stopping. The locals began chirping, raising their hands. But then the huge one jumped really high, over the fire wall, the others followed suit.

“What the-” Randy stunned.

“It didn’t do that last time!” Jerry perplexed.

“Stay back!” Dearka swung his axe at the creature, but the creature blocked it with its paws.

“Hey! over here!” Rein threw his axe at it, distracting it from mauling Dearka.

The locals attacked the creature with their spears. The leader rallied his people and he managed to stabbed the huge creature’s right eye. It howled loudly before crushing the leader under it foot.

“No!” Rein horrified. He took the torch from the nearby hut and waved it at the huge creature. It backing off, giving him a chance to get the leader and brought him out off harms way. But it was too late, he’s gone. Rein clenched his teeth, if only I didn’t left my stun gun on the ship.

“Get back! Stay behind me!” Randy waving at locals.

“Gaby!” Olivia wailed, pointing at one of the creature broke into the village.

“Oliv! protect the children!” Gaby yelled “Rein! go helped her!”

Rein, Olivia and some of the locals went back to the children. The creature was breaking the barricade. Rein ran as fast as he could and jumped on the creature’s back. It tried to claws him out from its back.

“Boss!”

Garland aimed his hand at the creature. A muffled sound, the creature howled loudly, throwing Rein from its back.

“You alright?” Fabian helped him stood up.

“Yeah, but the other..”

“Where’s everyone?” Eleanor asked.

Kincade handed him the stun gun.

“They are at the fence, there are still six of them..”

“We could use it to help fend off the rest..” said Kincade looking at the creature.

But it began smacking its head repeatedly with its paws.

“Wha-”

It let another howls before continuing attacking the barricade.

Garland groaned “It doesn’t work on it!”

Kincade and Laylah began shooting the creature with their stun guns, making it backed down from the hut. Eleanor and the others also drawing their guns and began shooting at it.

“It’s not going down!” Sierra yelled.

“Oliv! Get the children out of there and bring them to the cave!” Rein told her. He also told Eleanor, Rose and Dianna to go with her.

“Keep shooting!” Kincade shouted.

The creature was backing down, giving time for Olivia and the rest to get the children and they all fled the village. Rein noticed the creature groaned as his shot hitting its beak.

“Aim at the beak!”

They all shot the creature at the same time. The beak cracked and broke into half. The creature made a loud howls before fleeing from the village. The locals raising their weapon, chirping.

“Let’s go save the other!” Rein waved.

They went to the fence, Gaby and the others were still battling the creatures. So many bodies of the locals lied on the ground. Fabian went to tend all of them.

“Gaby!” Rein shouted “Aim at the beak!”

Randy looked at Rein. He swung his hammer at the creature’s beak, staggering it. Dearka used the opportunity followed up the attack and breaking the creature’s jaw. It slammed to the ground, twitching.

“It works!” Gaby waving at the locals.

The locals throwing the stones and torches at the creature to distracted them while Rein and Gaby’s team targeting their beak. One by one they felled the creature, until the biggest one was the only one left. The creature covering its face while the other hand swung wildly at anything in front of it.

“Get back!” Randy wailed, waving his hands at the locals.

Kincade managed to grabbed its hand, using all his might to stopped the creature. Garland punched the creature. His hand glows and began electrocuting it. The creature wailed.

“It’s no longer covering its beak!” Gaby shouted.

“Now!” Rein told Laylah and Sierra.

They shot at the its beak and breaking it into half. Everyone cheered, but it was not done yet. The creature howls and became even more violent, trashing its hands, throwing Kincade onto a tree before grabbing Garland and slammed him to ground.

“Gar!” Rein shouted, shooting at the creature, preventing it from crushing Garland under its foot.

Laylah and Randy quickly dragged Garland away from it. Rein told Sierra to kept shooting. The locals chirping while raising their spears and proceeded to stabbing the creature’s legs. A loud crack from the side, Kincade, drenched in blood had uprooted a tree.

“Laylah!” he shouted.

She went to his side, together they lifted the tree. Smoke gushing from their hands as they swung the tree, smashing the creature’s face. A loud crack and the tree snapped in half. The creature staggered before slamming to the ground.

“Is- is it over?” asked Sierra.

“Hope so..” Dearka panting.

The creature, smashing its paws on the ground, was about to stood up again.

“It still alive!” Randy readying his hammer.

One the local jumped at the creature and stabbed its other eye with his spear. It screamed loudly and fell to ground once more, motionless as pool of green blood formed under its head. The local who defeated the creature raised his spear and chirping loudly, followed by the others as the sun began rising above the horizon.

Rein looking at the sun and sighed in relief "It's over.."

After burying the leader and other casualties not far from the village. They went to Rein’s ship, the locals were following behind them.

“Rein.. and all of you..” said Gaby “without you, we won’t be able to stop them. Thank you..”

Rein lowered his head “We are sorry.. we couldn’t do more to prevent-”

“You had done your best..”said Olivia.

“If only-” Eleanor murmured

The locals were hugging Rein and his friends.

“See.. they are thanking you for saving them,” Gaby smiled.

Waving their goodbye at the locals, Rein and his friends went inside their ship. He turned around, noticing Gaby and her team weren’t following them entering the ship.

“Rein..” said Gaby “inform the HQ to bring a new ship for us..”

“Huh?” Rein confused.

She smiled “We will stay, sorry for troubling you..”

“Are you sure?” Eleanor asked.

Jerry chimed in “We all unanimously agreed to it..”

“Yeah, we need to teach them more,” Randy grinned “Cade! Here the recipe for the sauce and this is the seed to grow the main ingredient!” handing him a small bag.

“We could stay and help too..” Rein suggested.

Gaby shook her head “Don’t worry about us, continue your journey.”

“But-” said Rose.

Olivia bubbled “We will meet again next time! It’s a promise!”

Seeing their determination, Rein smiled “Yeah.. I’ll be looking for it.”

Eleanor and Rose stared at Rein and Gaby’s team before they too nodded.

Kincade handed several stun guns for them “That one is my favorite..”

“We’ll returned it later,” Dearka chuckled.

Kincade grinned and giving him a fist bump.

After saying their goodbye to Gaby and her team, and the locals, and also getting their transport craft out of their ship. Rein and his team entered their ship. Kincade flew their ship to the skies, spotting a black cloud not far from them, they quickly left the planet.

“Rein.. will they be alright?” Eleanor worried.

Rose murmured “I’m still worried about them too..”

“We left some of our spare equipment there, they’ll be fine,” Kincade assured them.

“And they promised we will meet again,” Dianna smiled.

Garland stared at Dianna.

Rein looking at the planet behind them “Yeah, we will meet them again,” he told Asha to showed them their next destination.
