Haunted by captivity and loss, she doesn’t trust easily. But when she’s sent on a mission across the wilds of the Four Corners region — a landscape reborn in vines, rivers, and whispered power — she begins to uncover truths about the world, the war, and herself.

Along the way, Jo meets others who have learned to survive: moles who live beneath the earth, rebels rebuilding from ashes, and some who see Jo for who she really is. Together, they must navigate treacherous terrain, fractured loyalties, and the heavy cost of freedom.
