Once, I was walking my family's dog on a trail where you occasionally see elk and moose. I was being careful in case the dog noticed anything before I did - he is a hundred and sixty pounds easy, so you don't want to be caught off guard holding a leash if he decides he needs to chase something. He's a very good boy, though, so it's rarely an issue.
It was a peaceful morning with no one else on the trail, so we did end up running into a trio of elk. I braced myself and looked down at the dog right as the elk noticed us and dashed off, close enough and huge enough that the sound of their hooves on the ground as they leapt away was loud in the mostly silent morning. The dog, though, was looking on the other side of the trail, super focused. There was a squirrel there.
Anyway, I apologize for my unreliability with uploads this past week or so. The world is crazy and moving is hard. I'll get back into things properly as soon as I possibly can. In the meantime, the deadline for this comic is today, so this is the first of three updates for today leading us into the end of the comic. I hope you've enjoyed it.
