near the beginning of the 80s, many area punk shows were actually hosted at Chinese restaurants because police involvement at shows had caused rioting. Not too many clubs were willing to host bands, so it became a Chinatown staple to have punk shows. The restaurant owners made a ton of money by allowing bands.
