Funny, I realize that this story-bead actually relies on people being familiar with the "electric jellyfish" trope. In fact, for people who aren't familiar with this trope it might actually fall flat... I wonder what those people would think in this situation?
A quick visit to tvtropes.org and I now get the Electric Jellyfish. To facilitate the portrayal of getting stung, comic artists made it look like the victim was getting shocked, and it became a mistaken trope. I have a better understanding of Kimiko now.
