Chapter 2 Continuation into Chapter 3

Chapter 2 Continuation into Chapter 3

Sep 29, 2025

"We saw how happy you looked and thought we’d let you shop until you were satisfied." I reply,

"I can’t take this much stuff; let me put some back." As I start sorting through the cart, a hand gently pulls me away. I look up to see it’s Tracy.

"Please, it’s fine; you don’t need to return anything," she assures me. I sigh, nod, and make my way to the checkout counter.

Steven then says, "Kevin, take Felicity to the ice cream shop while we check out." Kevin nods and takes my hand, pulling me out the door before I can object, and Jay soon comes running after us. We settle down beneath a charming red and white checked umbrella at a picnic table outside a delightfully retro 50s diner-style ice cream shop. Jay inquires,

"What flavor of ice cream would you like, and do you prefer a cone or a bowl?"

I respond, "One scoop of mint chocolate chip and one scoop of Dutch chocolate in a cone, please."

He licks his lips and replies, "That sounds delicious! I think I’ll have the same. What about you, Kevin?"

Kevin ponders for a moment and says, "Hmm, I think I’ll try that too; get me the same."

Jay cheerfully sings, "Three cones coming right up!" He strolls off to place our order, and Kevin turns to me as we begin discussing my new school. He shares warnings about certain teachers and classes he enjoys. Suddenly, the girl I accidentally bumped into earlier approaches our table, practically drooling. As her gaze locks onto Kevin, you can almost see her eyes transform into hearts, just like in cartoons.

She exclaims, "Kevin!" and sits down next to him without waiting for an invitation, wrapping her arm around his and leaning her head on his shoulder while gazing up at him.

"You didn’t text me last night, but here you are with another girl. Am I too ugly for you?"

My eyes widen in disbelief; is this Kevin’s girlfriend? She is anything but ugly—she radiates beauty. Her hair glistens like honey, her dark eyelashes frame her sparkling skin, and her big, gleaming brown-golden eyes shine brightly. She scowls at me, her face twisting unattractively just as I was admiring her beauty. I stifle a laugh as Kevin begins to shake her off, saying,

"Well, I made it very clear that I’m not interested in you. Could you please leave? I’m with my family right now."

She looks hurt by his rejection but then sneers in my direction, saying, "That’s not family; that’s just some bimbo!"

My jaw drops; she doesn’t even know me—could she really be that spiteful?

Kevin responds angrily, almost growling, "Don’t speak about my sister that way!"

She whips her head around to him so quickly that it seems like it might snap off, her eyes wide with a mix of disbelief and fury.

She hisses, "Your sister!? You think I'm foolish? I know you don't have a sister; I've known you for years! Or have you forgotten!?" Then, she shifts her gaze to me, looking at me with utter disgust.

Kevin, visibly angry, retorts, "I do have a sister, but she's been overseas for a long time with some relatives I just never mentioned to you. That doesn't give you the right to speak to someone like that, anyway. So why don't you just leave? I don't value your company."

He turns away, then looks back at me and asks,

"So what were we discussing again?"

I nearly laugh but manage to suppress it, my face twitching as I glance over at the furious beauty. She huffs and literally stomps off, throwing me dirty looks as she marches away. Jay arrives, struggling to balance three coned ice creams, and Kevin quickly stands up to take one of the cones, handing it to me. Jay glances at both of us and asks with a raised eyebrow,

"Did I miss something?" Kevin lets out a loud sigh and replies,

"Just Lizzie; she came over with her dramatics again, thinking I'm her boyfriend or something."

Jay chuckles and says, "Man, she really has it bad for you. I know you’re not into her, but you’ve got to set her straight so she stops bothering you."

I’m just savoring my ice cream, enjoying their back-and-forth about Lizzie.

Kevin looks frustrated, glaring at Jay as he says, "Dude, do you think I haven’t told her repeatedly that I’m not interested and she should just leave me alone!? She acts like I’ve never said anything every time she won’t stop bothering me!"

Jay asks, "Did you tell her to fuck off?"

Kevin scrunches his nose and replies, "Well, I didn’t exactly say fuck off; I just told her to leave me alone."

Jay makes a tsk sound and suggests, "Next time, I think you should tell her to fuck off."

Kevin nods and says, "You’re right; maybe saying it like that will help her get the picture." We all nod as we finish our ice cream.I glance around, having finished our ice cream, still waiting for Tracy and Steven. I turn to them and ask,

"Where are they? I thought they would join us here too."

Kevin replies, "Let me give them a call." I nod in agreement as he lifts the phone to his ear.

He asks, "Where are you two?" After listening, he nods and says, "Okay, that sounds good." He then looks at Jay and me and informs us,

"They were on a little date, giving us some bonding time, and they said they are on their way to pick us up to head back home.”

They arrive shortly after, and we all climb in; the driver begins the journey back home. It hasn't been long since I became part of this family, yet I was already beginning to see them as my home. Hope has blossomed within me, and I eagerly anticipate the new journey ahead.

CHAPTER THREE : OTHER POV

Each year, I visit every demon pack, and each year, I encounter every woman, yet I find nothing. No spark, no incredible scent, no emotions. It's a disappointment that has persisted for the last five hundred years. It feels as if the spirit gods are determined to keep me from finding a mate. After enduring so many days of misery without my other half, I've decided it's time to take action. The mortal realm is teeming with people, but I never imagined the goddess would intertwine humans with our kind. If the mate I seek happens to be human, I possess the power to mark her and transform her into my equal; as my mate, she would inherit my abilities and status. All I desire is to find her and love her, but I worry—if she is human, how would I even begin to tell her anything?

FELICITY

My alarm goes off, and I roll over to see my clock flashing 6:00 AM at me. I reach out to turn it off, sitting up with a slight groan. Taking a deep breath, I get up and jump into the shower. Today marks my first day at a new school, and starting mid-year is challenging enough. After drying off, I wrap my hair up and sit at my vanity. I apply some light, natural-looking makeup, using eyeliner to make my crystal blue eyes stand out. I head to my closet and find my uniform: a long-sleeved forest green top paired with a black cardigan and a black and forest green plaid skirt. I put on black tights and black dress shoes. Letting my hair down, I brush it and dry it. I grab the curling iron, taking sections of my raven black hair to style. Once finished, I add some product to my hair and step in front of the mirror. I can't deny it; I know I'm stunning, with my lustrous, gently curled raven locks, a fit physique, and lovely subtle curves, standing at an average height of 5'5. However, what truly captivates is my eyes, reminiscent of a sparkling ocean. They are my finest attribute, and I just hope that my appearance will work in my favor today. I turn away from the mirror and pick up my phone from the charger, then make my way downstairs to the kitchen. Upon entering the kitchen, I can already hear the lively chatter of everyone. I step into the dining room area where the commotion is coming from and am greeted by a grand feast. The table is spread with an array of dishes that resemble a lavish breakfast buffet. Tracy spots me and waves me over, noticing my jaw drop in awe. I approach her, and she exclaims,

"A hearty breakfast is essential on your first day! Come, come, let’s eat!" I take a seat next to Jay, who promptly places a plate of pancakes in front of me. I grab my fork and dive in, and oh my, it was absolutely scrumptious. After breakfast, Tracy leads me to the living room where she presents my backpack that she chose for me. She hands me a vibrant red Randoseru Backpack filled with all my textbooks and the necessary paperwork for my arrival. Additionally, she gives me a credit card with my name on it, and hers listed beneath. I wrap my arms around her and say,

"Thank you so much for everything once again." She embraces me tightly.

OTHER POV

Gazing out of my window, I let out a groan at the sight of the human cities. I instructed my driver to head further out, expressing my desire to begin my search in a smaller town instead. It has been ages since I last stepped into the human realm, and the malevolent energy seems to cling to the air. We drive for hours, and then an instinct nudges me to glance out the window. The sun shines brightly at that moment, and within its rays stands the most stunning girl I have ever encountered, causing my breath to hitch. I instruct my driver to stop, roll down my window, and then it hits me. The scents of lavender, cinnamon, and honey waft in, mate, and a smile spreads across my face as I nearly leap from the car. I pause, reminding myself that I can't just rush up to a human and declare, 'I'm your mate, come with me and be my demon queen.'

I sent a text to my bodyguard, asking him to identify the school associated with that uniform and gather any information he can about her. He responds promptly,

 'Yes, your Majesty.'

I then tell my driver to search for a house for us to purchase. He pulls out his phone and starts looking while I keep my eyes on her until she vanishes around a corner. I can't believe I found my mate so quickly; I thought it would take me a few hundred more years to discover her.

Darkness has always been my companion, as the Demon King. I ascended to the throne of all supernatural beings considered dark entities at a young age, ruling over vampires, fairies, werewolves, and witches. My soul has become hardened through war and ruling, forcing me to evolve into a beast. After centuries, my emotions have dulled, leaving me devoid of warmth and connection. But the instant I laid eyes on her and caught a whiff of her fragrance, everything transformed; it was as if my heart had started beating anew. I sensed our connection falling into place. I could feel her emotions of both joyful and anxious, and I couldn't help but ponder her thoughts. The world burst into a kaleidoscope of colors, and I noticed her shine; my once dreary existence now illuminated by her presence. She remains unaware of my existence, yet I find myself already living for her. My driver clears his throat, pulling me from my reverie. He informs me, "Your Majesty, I have set up a meeting with the realtor who mentioned that the owners are willing to sell quickly." I nod in response and say, "Let's go."

FELICITY

Jay and Kevin guide me toward the garage, where a blue BMW SUV awaits. Kevin hops into the driver's seat while Jay opens the passenger door for me, saying, "For you, Madam." I play along, responding with a little bow, "Why thank you, kind sir." We share a laugh as I climb into the car, and Jay slides into the backseat, shifting to the middle to lean forward comfortably. Jay leans in towards Kevin and suggests, "Hey, let’s swing by The Bean coffee shop; we have some time to spare." Kevin nods in agreement and drives off. We arrive at the coffee spot, and I leap out, following them inside. As we cross the street, I sense someone watching me and glance around. Suddenly, a voice catches my attention. An irritating singing voice pierces the air, calling out, "Kevin!" Suddenly, she appears, sprinting towards him and wrapping her arm around his, clinging tightly. "I've missed you, Kevin! It's been too long. I know you like me; you just don't want to admit it," she says, nuzzling her nose against his neck. Kevin forcefully pulls her arms off him and pushes her away. With a fierce glare, he retorts, "Lizzie, you bitch! Stop touching me like that! Get lost; I really can't stand you!" He grabs my hand and drags me past her, and she shoots me a look filled with pure hatred. Jay leans in closer and advises, "Just ignore her; don't give her any attention." I nod and quickly turn my head away from her, focusing straight ahead. After grabbing our coffee, we make our way to school, driving into a dense wooded area where a magnificent entrance gate awaits us. A security office stands nearby, and we pull up to the drive-through window. The guard glances at Kevin and requests, "Student ID please, along with the IDs of the other passengers." Kevin nods and retrieves his ID, while Jay leans in towards me and whispers, "Mom mentioned she placed your temporary paper ID in your bag." I rummage through my bag and discover it right at the front. I pass it to Kevin, who then hands it to the guard. After a brief pause, the guard says, "Alright, you may enter." The gate before us swings open, revealing a long drive through the woods. As we finally catch sight of the school, I am left in awe. It towers with several floors and is adorned with stunning architecture. Everything about it shouts that I have stepped into a different tax bracket now.

There's a blaze beneath my feet, yet I remain untouched; the walls ooze with molten rock, but I feel no heat—just a sense of normalcy as if I'm suspended in air. I reach out to make contact, and the lava cascades down my arm like a waterfall, yet it doesn't scorch me. Instead, it seeps into my skin, causing it to radiate with a glow. I emerge from the lava flow into a cave, drawn towards a light in the distance. As I step into the brightness, my eyes adjust, revealing a sight unlike anything I've ever encountered. My skin's glow fades, leaving me with a sensation of power, almost weightless. Yet, I can feel the heft of my strength, as if it has always been a part of me. I extend my hand, envisioning my desire, and utter the word, "Mirror." A shimmering substance flows from my palm, coalescing into a sphere that begins to transform. It morphs into a tall, rectangular full-length mirror. I approach it, eager to see the reflection of my changed self. I gasp in surprise as I gaze into the mirror, staring back at me are my own Red Eyes, unmistakably mine.
