A tall man stood before Ophelia. His hair was blonde, like strands of golden thread, Eyes brown as chocolate. He was wearing a long white tunic made of the finest linen. Pinned in his chest was a silver insignia. A Priest Advisor. One of the highest ranking ones, and he was undeniably one of the most handsome.. He looked too pure, too perfect…
“Hi, Gael. It’s been a long time… how have you been?”
“I’m doing well, a bit busier as of late. Still, I can find some time for some old friends - unlike someone”
“Oh yes I heard. Congrats on your new position! May the God of the Nieu will bless you on this new journey!”
Gael laughed lightly, his gaze was almost angelic. “You are as formal as ever, no wonder others find it hard to believe we have known each other for three years now.”
Ophelia's smile was distracted, her voice thinner. As if she couldn't hide her disappointment. It was visible in her face, in her tone. After all, It was not Gael she wanted to see but Khiel. But it wasn’t Gael’s fault she had been waiting for someone else. He was kind, always had been. And yet, his presence stirred something she couldn’t place. A mix of disappointment and confusion she quickly pushed aside.
“Well you know me! I’ve always been like this.” She laughed awkwardly, as if to hide her state. “What brings you here by the way? The men’s division wasn't supposed to participate in this market?”
“Some changes have been made, Since I'm an Advisor now, I have been tasked to survey some of the events of the women’s division” his smile as warm as ever.
“That sure is good news for the girls” Ophelia laughed lightly “You know you have many fans around here, and now in your position you can also marry if you wish.”
“I’m only 20, it's a bit early for marriage. And also, I hope it's good news for you too. After all, we will meet each other more often. Though you don't look very happy today.”
“No It’s not that” she responded awkwardly, her gaze shifting to the side. “I’m just a bit tired today, and I still have more things to do…”
“I'm not being serious Phel’. You can go now, I just wanted to say hi. We will catch up soon.”
“Okay… Later then.” Ophelia said while leaving. Somehow she was feeling more perplexed. “He was kind, always polite. But beneath the warmth of his gaze, she felt a certain unease - a tangled knot of feelings she didn't want to unravel yet.”
