Seraphel stepped onto the fractured plaza stones like she was stepping on water—
each step weightless, precise, almost… beautiful.
Her scythe trailed behind her, not touching the ground, but erasing the space just above it.
A silent promise:
She was getting serious.
Ryu felt the air around her shift—
a new rhythm, a subtle pulse.
Yoru whispered, “She’s delighted.”
Ryu nodded. “She enjoys strong prey.”
Cael, forced behind a barrier Yoru created, watched with trembling arms.
“What… kind of monster enjoys fighting a star and a spirit!?”
Ryu stepped forward, calm as ever.
“The kind that was forged for execution.”
Ryu raised both hands—different sorcery circles forming at once.
Astral sigils on the left.
Spirit-linked sigils borrowed from Yoru on the right.
And between them—
layers of Ryu’s self-invented sorcery:
Celestial Convergence, his signature hybrid control system.
Yoru blinked in awe.
“Ryu… you’re using three frameworks simultaneously.”
“Not just three. Hundreds.”
Seraphel vanished.
She appeared between them.
The scythe descended in a diagonal arc—clean, devoid of wasted motion, the movement of a master who had cut down thousands without hesitation.
Ryu crossed his hands.
“Sorcery Fusion — Astral Bloom.”
A burst of star-petals exploded outward.
Each petal was a compressed astral shard rotating with lethal force.
Seraphel sliced through them.
They vanished—erased by Null sorcery.
She spun gracefully.
The scythe carved a ring around them—
a circle of erased existence.
Yoru gasped.
“Ryu—she’s isolating us!”
Ryu clicked his tongue softly.
“Then we break the circle.”
He lifted one finger.
A single astral point formed at the tip—nothing special visually, just a speck of light.
But Yoru’s expression turned serious.
“Ryu… that’s—”
“Yes.”
He flicked his finger.
Astral Point Collapse.
The tiny speck detonated with gravitational force, unraveling the null-field binding them. The circle shattered into spiraling fragments of warped space.
The wind snapped outward.
Seraphel floated above them, body relaxed, robes flowing like ink and light mixed together.
Her wings curled gently around her—like a dancer waiting for the next beat.
Ryu exhaled.
“…She’s enjoying this too much.”
Yoru nodded.
“At least she finds us entertaining.”
Seraphel attacked again—this time from above.
Her scythe drew a vertical line.
A single vertical cut.
But the cut didn’t aim for Ryu.
It aimed for everything around him.
Buildings bent.
Stone warped.
Mana died.
Ryu’s hands moved faster than sight.
“Astral Sorcery — Cosmic Cantilever.”
A massive, angled barrier of star-metal erupted upward, catching the null line and redirecting it skyward.
The sky split open in a straight black tear.
Cael’s jaw dropped.
“HOLY— THAT WOULD HAVE CUT THE WHOLE CITY IN HALF!”
Ryu didn’t look away from Seraphel.
“I know.”
Yoru moved.
Her moonlit form burst into dozens of trailing afterimages—each a half-corporeal illusion formed from spirit resonance.
“Ryu!”
“Go.”
Yoru dove toward Seraphel.
Seraphel responded not with power, but with elegance—
her body shifting like she was dancing through moonlight.
She dipped under Yoru’s strike.
Turned her scythe just half a degree.
Tapped the back of Yoru’s wrist—
A shockwave rippled.
Yoru’s attack was nullified instantly.
She spun, regaining balance midair.
“Still annoying!” she snapped.
Seraphel didn’t answer.
She simply sliced horizontally.
The slash erased the afterimages—
all of them.
Ryu intercepted.
“Astral Sorcery & Spirit Resonance — Dual Form: Zenith Flux.”
Astral streams woven with Yoru’s resonance coiled like double helixes around his arms. His steps cracked the ground as condensed gravity pushed downward.
He appeared in front of Seraphel in a blur.
Their eyes locked.
For the first time—
Seraphel smiled.
A tiny, almost nonexistent smile.
“...You’ve grown.”
Ryu stiffened.
But before he could question—
Seraphel spun, scythe whirling in a crescent arc toward his ribs.
Ryu caught it.
With his bare hand.
For half a second.
Reality shrieked.
His palm burned.
Existence peeled away around his fingers.
Yoru screamed, “RYU!!”
He didn’t flinch.
He tightened his grip.
“Three-sorcery fusion — Celestial Trinity.”
Time warped.
Light twisted.
Mana inverted.
Three sorceries combined:
Astral (creation)
Spirit (resonance)
Convergence (control)
Ryu unleashed them in a single pulse.
A shockwave that even Null could not immediately swallow.
Seraphel was pushed back.
Only by a meter—
But she was pushed.
Cael felt his heart stop.
“Ryu… you’re matching her…”
Ryu didn’t answer.
His breath was steady.
His posture unbroken.
His gaze calm.
He wasn’t proud.
He wasn’t relieved.
He was simply analyzing.
Seraphel spoke again.
“…as expected.”
Her voice had the softness of a winter night.
“You’re still incomplete.”
Ryu’s eyes narrowed.
Seraphel vanished.
Reappeared behind him.
The scythe swung.
Ryu rotated instantly—Astral flare bursting from his heel as he stabilized the pivot.
“Yoru!”
“On it!”
Yoru’s Moonshade Resonance surged again, wrapping Ryu’s chest with spirit armor.
The scythe cut through it—
but didn’t erase all of it.
Ryu thrust his palm against Seraphel’s stomach.
“Astral Drive—Supernova Pulse.”
A sphere of light exploded point-blank.
The shockwave hurled Seraphel into a nearby bell tower—
the tower instantly vanishing as if erased from memory.
Yoru panted, holding her chest.
“She absorbed ninety percent of that.”
“I know.”
“But Ryu… your sorcery output is insane right now. You’re mixing frameworks like a madman.”
Ryu continued analyzing the dust cloud where Seraphel had vanished.
“…I have to.”
Because Seraphel wasn’t alone.
Not anymore.
The dust settled.
Seraphel walked out of the wreckage.
Not hurt.
Not strained.
But her hair was slightly tousled.
That alone said everything.
Her voice was soft.
“…Good.”
Then—
A second pair of wings unfolded behind her.
Ghostly. Half-formed.
A resonance of an older power.
Yoru gasped.
“Ryu—she’s invoking her Void Seraph form!”
Ryu lowered his stance.
Calm.
Composed.
Resolved.
“…Then I’ll raise mine too.”
He drew a long breath.
The entire plaza trembled.
The stars rippled in the daylight sky.
Yoru glowed brighter beside him, eyes widening in devotion and thrill.
“Ryu… that technique… you’ll burn through everything—”
“Yoru.”
He gave a small smile.
“I’ll be fine. I’m not alone.”
Yoru’s expression softened.
And she laughed—bright, excited, and utterly loyal.
“Then let’s end this dance.”
They stood together.
A star and a moon.
Against the Angel of Death.
