When I was twenty-two- Oh, sorry. I'm going to tell you guys a story about when I was twenty-two. My bad, shoulda warned you before I started. I am always doing that.
When I was twenty-two I worked as a cold caller for a company with a name I either can't remember or can't say (you guys can pick either option. Like a chose your own adventure book! I'll help out by not saying which one is true.) I have literally no idea what this company(See? Still not telling.) produced. Not a clue. I remember these weekly meetings were the floor managers would call us in and have us sit around, on chairs that were way more comfortable than the ones at our desks, and they would loudly exclaim that our company (I can't remember the name. Fuck!) was a world leader in our industry.
For the life of me, though, I haven't got a clue. I just called random phone numbers and hoped they hung up on me.
I still do that, except nobody pays me and I'm not a world leader in any-goddamn-thing. With the possible exception of run-on sentences.
I think my experience with that company probably did a lot to inform this issue and maybe even Roy's view on work.
