Hey guys.
So... tldr; I got chewed out by my idol and am taking a break from drawing the comic. Here is fanservice. Love you. <3
Long story:
One of my favorite artists stumbled on my comic and proceeded to savagely tear it apart. Apparently how I draw body language, postures, expressions, and eyes are too stiff and emotionless. My coloring is horrible. My anatomy is 'off' and my perspective is inconsistent. And I don't have a recognizable style which leaves no continuity in the comic.
After I stopped rocking back and forth in the corner and picked myself up off the floor... I realized she was right, and she wasn't saying all those things to be mean to me in any way. Critique is good for artists to grow. Also, her critique came with suggested techniques and ways to improve. So while I go back to the basics, study a shitload of references and get my shit together, enjoy this fanservice. I'll upload occasional sketches and mini-comics of Caelic and Sedeil so you don't forget about them, but if you'd like to unsubscribe then I completely understand. Thank you for your support so far, and I hope in the future I can bring you a prettier comic!!
Wasn't gonna comment just bc I don't usually have anything to add to the conversation, haha, but honestly?? I love your art??? And I understand that your idol wasn't saying they hated your art, just that you could improve, and sure, go do what you gotta do to be the best you you can be. But at the same time I only read these things 30% for the art (don't smite me down pls) and 70% for the storyline, you know? So I'm reeeaaally gonna miss this while you put it on hold to improve your art. And I get that a lot of the story in comics is portrayed through body language and such, but at the same time, I don't know any of the characters yet, so no, I'm not really watching their every move, I'm just sort of going with the flow of the story. You wouldn't consider continuing to post the story and experimenting while style AS you do so, would you? Like, the more we get to know the characters, the better the art gets too, and then we're all in synch as the story unfolds? You don't have to--again; do what you gotta do, my man--but if you're even /barely/ considering it, know you have at least one fan who would be 800% all for that. Because your story is so interesting. But also, like, I'm not going anywhere, haha. (though I'll miss you -wipes tear from eye-)
