HISTORICAL NOTE #1: In actuality, Pierre may have NEVER washed dishes (which is why I had to say that Marie had been away). As was customary at the time, even with the Curies', women did ALL the cooking and housework. Interestingly, Marie did her "chores" scientifically, keeping detailed notes, experimenting with techniques, and recording her observations.
