Selva changed into appropriate clothes, and went alone onto the campus of Othello Community College. She searched for her friend and found her.
“Selva, is that you?” Cerest asked.
“Si, c’est moi,” said Selva.
They hugged. Cerest (called Sara West here) made Selva some tea.
“Is this visit just to catch up? Did you need my help with something?” asked Cerest.
“Non, just to visit, mon ami,” said Selva.
“How’s the dimensional pirate thing going?” asked Cerest.
“Tres bien. We are doing very well,” said Selva. “Still posing as a teacher of humans? 'Ow are this year’s divines coming?”
Cerest smiled,”They’re learning. We don’t keep all of them. Some are tempted by the Darkness, but that’s a choice each deva, or then asura, has to make,”
Cerest rival, Andras, was also recruiting divines, but he wasn’t above poaching Cerest’s students, especially those with great power and ambition. Still, there were spiritual laws in place. Laws that allowed such things.
They talked a bit longer, and then parted ways, Selva to her piracy, and Cerest to her teaching. Cerest wondered if any of her students would be a good fit for Selva’s crew. She decided to talk to her about it next time.
