This day was doomed from the beginning, as you can tell. I start walking to the front door with my beige, lacy bag. I shiver before stepping out. I see my friend’s Honda. Specifically my three terrible- I mean, great friends, I had mentioned.

"Where are we going?" I ask, "your text said something about a place we go to talk and sit?"

Mira, the driver responded, "Yeah, you'll be surprised that this place is still up and running." she smiles. Roughly she presses the brake, "Yeesh!" Julian laughs. "Elise, did you find a college yet?"

I sigh once more. "Well, I- well- um- yeah- uhm-no." I stammer. Ugh, I need to get control of that.  "Hmm, maybe we can help you find one! Since none of us are getting a college education it seems-" Julian coughs and looks at Rosa and Mira, only earning a death glare back. "I am going to college!"

Julian laughs again. "Maybe GCU! I heard that's a good one, also- what's your GPA?" he asks. I honestly didn't know, it must've been high though, high enough for me to get accepted in. "I think over 3.5. Maybe 4.0."

Julian whistles in that cat call kind of way but not in the cat call kind of way? "Fuck! You're really smart! How come this never shows?"

"I truthfully.." long pause between my sentence for dramatic effect. "don't know." Rosa finally speaks. "Did you bring your phone charger?" she asks me. "I, uh- I think so. Also why?"

She shrugs. "Hmm, I dunno maybe it's 'cause I'm poor as shit?"
