HISTORIC NOTE: The basis for this episode is factual. Marie did in fact keep extensive, detailed notebooks for EVERYTHING! including cooking and cleaning. Also, boysenberry preserves was one of her special recipes (actually, it was gooseberry -- I goofed). Of course, even though Marie approached cooking in a scientific way, I doubt she used laboratory equipment and Bunsen burners to prepare her concoctions, as I illustrate on Page 2. I'm merely exaggerating, of course, to emphasize her scientific manner of thinking. Turns out that making preserves is pretty simple though. The only tricky part is adding the sugar mixture slowly; thus, the weird process involving the swirly tube and the eyedropper.
