((I wrote briefly this morning. Since it's not very long, I've included it as a bonus post. Thanks for reading my fiction!))
Lylkan was reading his old journals again. He was no closer to taking over the master magician Tremilllian’s realm, nor defeating Ain in a trainer battle, nor increasing his own strength to control stronger creatures.
‘I love summoning. I have friends I didn’t have before learning the craft, and it’s just so cool. A little chalk, a spell, and bam, instant friend! I don’t ever want to stop!’
Lylkan did want to stop. That had been five years ago, yet he was encouraged by his former enthusiasm. He did have his pets, but it was different. He realized that even if he was kind to them, they didn’t really have a choice. So he freed a few of them. His weakest, a squirrel cloud hybrid stayed with him. In the weeks that followed they became close, and he found better than what he had been seeking. He remembered his uncle’s saying,”If you don’t know your past and learn from it, you’ll never leave it, you’ll never get to where you want to go,”
