Once they were out, he sat cross-legged on the bed in his clothes that weren't all dirty. He really needed to get these washed.
Seth sat next to him, holding his hand and playing with his fingers. It was nice to just sit there and relax. "Are those the only clothes you have?" He asked, eyeing him.
"Yeah. Why?" He eyed him back, stiffening. Where's this headed...? He thought cautiously.
A smirk slowly grew on his lips as he brought up Kato's hand and kissed the back of it. "Looks like we're going clothes shopping."
"Huh?" He blinked. "That's alright. I'm fine with this. I just need to find a laundry place to wash them." He shrugged, looking away.
"I'm not fine with it so we're going." He got up, tugging him along. "No questions and no complaints."
He puckered his lips, preparing a response when Seth turned around and placed their lips together, raising an eyebrow.
He smiled and leaned back. "I said no questions and no complaints."
Blushing, he nodded, pressing his lips together again but keeping his mouth shut.
"Good." He let him put on his shoes before turning out the lights and going outside.
"What about you?" Kato asked, looking at his clothes. They were different from the clothes he wore the day before though they looked awfully similar. He didn't recall him having a change of clothes.
"I went out the night before last and got a new pair. I threw the old torn up ones away as well." He snickered in annoyance. "The angel tore 'em up good."
"I-I see..." He muttered, remembering the incident. He still felt guilty about it. It may not have been Kato that stabbed him, but it was Kato the angels were supposed to stab. Just the thought of it made him clench his jaw and pucker his lips. But then he remembered Seth telling him it was alright; that it wasn't his fault. He couldn't bring himself to completely believe that but he believed in Seth and wanted to make him happy.
"Hold up. Wait right here." Seth said, running off.
"S-Seth?" He called, confused. He watched him run up to a white food truck that had Spanish words written on its side. Seth talked with them for a bit before coming back, holding what looked to be a taco.
"You have yet to eat because you keep getting interrupted. So here." He held it out and he took it in his hands. "You won't hold out much longer with no food in your stomach."
"O-oh. Thank you." He muttered, blushing. It was still weird being the one to be treated.
"No problem." He slung his arm over his shoulder, guiding him down the sidewalk. "Eat and I'll talk." He said before going off on random subjects. Getting more comfortable, he ate the taco, wary of the spicy seasonings. He'd never minded spicy things but that didn't mean it didn't affect him.
"All done?" Seth reached over and took the wrapper from his hand, throwing it in an outdoor trashcan they passed. "Good because we're here." He led him into a small store full of clothing for guys, mostly black in color.
"So this is where you got those clothes?" He asked, looking around. He could totally see it. There were plain black t-shirts and others with rock band labels. The pants were dark and some were ripped jeans. A stand full of beanies and other accessories were located in the center in front of the counter.
"Yup." He walked over to one of the stands full of shirts. "I think black would look good on you." He turned, having picked one.
"Are you a designer now?" Kato asked, raising an eyebrow and stifling a giggle.
"Maybe." He teased, turning him around by his shoulders and over to a small dressing room. Giving him the shirt, he gestured for him to enter. "You go in there and I'll find clothes for you to put on."
"Oh no." He said, putting on a fake horrified expression. "What're you gonna do?"
"You'll see, you'll see." He sang out, walking back towards the clothing. "Just get in there."
Rolling his eyes, he entered and put it on. It fit him perfectly. Either Seth was pretty good at this or he was a lucky guesser. Taking it off, he put it back on the on the hanger, putting it aside right as something hit him in the face. They were jeans.
"Ow?" He called out and heard Seth laugh. Chuckling, he tried those on too. And they fit. Perfectly. Way too good to be a lucky guess. So, he took it off. "Is this it?" He asked.
"Did they fit?" He asked back.
"Yeah." He said, leaning against the wall. "What are you, psychic? Wait, I shouldn't ask that." He laughed and Seth laughed with him.
"So I was right then? Great!" Two pairs of shirts and pants were thrown over the door and he had to rush to catch them. "Try those on real quick and we'll be on our way."
"Alright." So he did. All fit him perfectly. It wasn't like he was going to grow anytime soon so he didn't have to worry about any sudden growth spurts that would make these unwearable. Guess being short had its perks, he thought to himself before grimacing. He'd just called himself short.
When he exited with the items, he caught Seth putting on a beanie and glasses, grinning at him and posing dramatically. "What do you think?"
Chuckling, Kato rolled his eyes. "Handsome as ever." It wasn't like he was lying. Even when he was being goofy, he was overly hot.
"Why thank you, Kitty." He put the items away and walked over, putting his hands on Kato's hips and causing him to blush. Leaning forward, they rubbed noses. "Now how about we pay for these, bring 'em home, and go for a walk?" He muttered, looking him in the eyes.
"I've got no objections." He chuckled, wrapping his hands around his neck and pecking him on the lips.
Seth grinned, gesturing with his chin to walk over to the counter.
When they paid, they went back to the motel and dropped it off. Seth asked him to get changed and since he couldn't really say no, he did. The t-shirt wasn't tight but it wasn't loose either. It showed how thin he was which he didn't know if he liked or not. The pants also fit him without being tight. They didn't threaten to fall off his hips like the others did, which he knew he liked. Truth be told, he hadn't owned nice clothing since his mother died and the thought saddened him a bit.
Clearing his throat along with his mind, he inspected himself in the mirror one last time before walking out. Seth was looking at a picture that hung on the wall of random purple and green swirls.
"I didn't know you were a fan of art." He teased, walking up beside him.
Seth turned and looked down at him, smirking. "Well, it's nothing compared to the image before me." He winked and bent down. "I knew you would look good in black." He muttered and kissed him, his hands roaming up and down his sides.
Blushing, he curled his hands in his hair and smiled. He hummed in response, chuckling.
Seth smirked and they broke off and they instead put their foreheads together and closed their eyes. "You are the best thing to have ever happened to me." He muttered and Kato moved so he was laying his head on his shoulder and hugging him.
"That makes me happy." He muttered before sighing through his nose and leaning back to look into his eyes.
"Come on Kitty, let's go out for that special walk. Though we'll have to be careful because I have a feeling the demons down in Hell might appear." His gaze hardened. "And it looks like the angels are in our tracks."
"Alright." Kato smiled and ran his fingers through Seth's soft brown hair. "If you have a bad feeling, are you sure we should go out?" He frowned slightly.
Seth smirked and slapped his butt, making him squeak, blush, and glare while he laughed and opened the door.
"Geez..." He muttered, walking past him and being wary in case he did something like that again.
"Man you're adorable." He said in amusement and he rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, yeah."
They walked together, side-by-side down the street. At some point, Seth had put his arm around his waist and Kato had laid his head on his shoulder. They began to ask questions like what their favorite color was. It was interesting to find out that Seth's favorite color was blue, like the sky.
The sun was beginning to set and they stopped in the middle of the sidewalk to watch it. They had wandered pretty far from the motel and had entered an area with barely any people.
"Too bad it isn't even close to your beauty," Seth muttered sadly and he blushed, reaching over to pinch his side and make him laugh. "Look at those claws. So vicious."
"These claws aren't afraid of being used." He muttered, returning to lay his head on his shoulder.
"Why are you sensitive about being called pretty or cute?" Seth asked.
"Good question." Kato sighed as he thought about it. "Maybe it's because I've been called it most of my life. I had thought I'd grow up to be more manly but I'm still small, thin, and feminine." He pouted.
"I see." Seth tightened his hold. The sun was almost completely gone now. "Well, you do look male. You're just adorable and pretty. And I want to tell you that."
He lifted his hand and placed it on Seth's chest, turning to look him in the eyes. "I'm used to snapping back because people usually use it against me. I don't dislike my looks. I like how I look like my mother." My mother... He thought, sadness once again pressing on his chest.
"Even better. But I'm not making fun of you." He kissed his forehead and he blushed.
"Okay." He smiled and looked up at the stars that had begun to litter the night sky.
"So this is where you were Seth." Someone called and they both turned towards an alley. Why was it always an alleyway? He thought. "Henry gave us an important tip so we came to get you. He said you had an interesting human on your arm." Out came a woman, her eyes hard but familiar. She had long, dark brown hair put in a ponytail that hung down to her hips. She wore black armor that showed her belly and the top of her breasts. Her face held all kinds of seriousness and her posture said she was the boss.
"Big sister," Seth muttered. "Long time no see." He called out, his hand tightening around his waist and gently pushing him behind, putting himself in front. That was his sister? He thought, suddenly seeing the resemblance.
"Why haven't you returned?" She snapped, glaring. "Ever since his Majesty passed away, you've been acting weird. Are you involved with the angels who killed him?" She asked, gritting her teeth.
"What?" Seth sounded genuinely surprised. "When did you come up with that? Of course not."
"Who's the kid and why was he able to disperse Henry's sword?" She asked, placing her hands on her hips.
"Where's Henry?" Seth growled, obviously angry with him.
"Locked away." She said simply. "He was gone for two days. That's punishable by death. But we've been lenient and put him in a cell."
"By death?" Kato asked and they both turned. "That's ridiculous..."
That made her angry. "Don't question his Majesty's rule!" She shouted and he glared.
"I already did." He said back, also angry.
She flinched away in surprise before angrily snapping her fingers. Out from the shadows came multiple figures.
"Shit," Seth muttered, looking around. "Looks like we weren't leaving here anyway."
"S-sorry. I couldn't help myself..." He muttered, biting his lip.
"Nah, I was totally amused. No one's talked back to her before." He stiffened and shouted out. "Anyone who dares touch Kato will die, do you hear me?" Murmurs ran through the crowd. "He's mine! I won't stand for anyone touching my lover!"
"Your lover?" His sister widened her eyes before returning to her cold hard glare and snapping her fingers again.
They all charged and Seth attempted to fight them off but got pinned instead. "Seth!" He called out but something hit him in the back of his neck and he fell limp, his eyes closing and darkness encasing him.
