Something cold splashed against Kris's face and he gasped, blinking and shaking his head. He was somewhere unfamiliar. It was like an overly large cave and strange red lights hung from the ceiling. Shivering, he looked around. They were surrounded by people. No, demons. Many of them. Way too much to count.
"You're finally awake." Someone in front of him said. It was the woman, Seth's sister. He was chained up to some kind of stand in the middle of the floor and when he tried pulling his hands down, the metal cut into his skin.
"Where's Seth?" He asked, glaring. The woman glared back and turned around. Behind her, Seth laid curled up on the floor, blood evident around him. "What did you do?" He shouted, struggling against his binds.
"We punished him. Be thankful we didn't kill him." The woman growled, reaching over and grabbing a fistful of Kato's hair and yanking his head back, causing a gasp to escape. "He wouldn't tell us who you were so we'll ask you. Who are you?"
"Like I'd tell you." He spat out, angry. Seth's own sister beat him? Who does that?
Snickering, she walked over to Seth and kicked him in the stomach, making him grunt and causing Kato to shout out in protest. "Well?"
"Leave him be!" He pleaded, his eyes wide as he struggled against the bonds again. Murmurs passed through the crowd of demons and he looked around, realizing suddenly that they were doing nothing at all to help their kind. They stood there watching cautiously. They were heartless in his eyes, right then and there. He hated them and he wanted to show them how wrong they were.
"Well?" The woman said, her voice low and taunting. Looking back, he watched her pick up Seth's arm and bring out something sharp. "I can take an arm off and he'll just grow it back." She smirked. "It'll be awfully painful though."
"No please..." He whispered, shaking as he watched the sharp object cut into his skin. "No!" He screamed out, feeling his body turn cold than agonizingly hot. Flames of different colors swirled like a tornado around him, burning his shackles until they broke. He struggled to his feet and dashed over to the stunned woman, knocking her aside and hovering protectively over Seth. "Touch him again and I'll kill you!" He growled, his face screwed up in anger.
"What...?" She whispered and he turned his attention to Seth whose eyes were closed. Taking a deep breath, he embraced his cold power and asked it to help heal his lover. It obeyed and his wounds slowly disappeared.
Seth slowly peeled his eyes open, looking dazedly up him. "Kato...?" He whispered and he nodded.
"Hey... Are you okay?" He smiled softly and cupped his cheek, stroking it with his thumb.
He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion before suddenly remembering and sitting up, pulling him by the waist and to his chest, hugging him. "Oh man, now I remember. Are you alright? Did they hurt you?"
"No. You're the one that was hurt..." He muttered, wrapping his arms around his chest.
"That's good..." He sighed.
"No, it isn't." He looked up at him. "You got seriously hurt, Seth."
"I know." He leaned over and kissed his forehead. "But you saved me."
"Who in the hell is that kid and why does he have the power of his Majesty?" His sister shouted and they both turned. She was glaring, her face turning red. A green flame sword appeared in her hand and she pointed it at them. "You stole it, didn't you? You killed him and stole it for yourself! Using magic!"
"What?" Kato blinked. "I would never-"
"Don't you dare!" She yelled and he blinked. "You killed him, you bastard!" The other demons stepped forward, shouting out protests.
So now they decide to do something? He was angry. No, he was far beyond that. Standing, Seth coming to stand behind him, he glared. "I'm only going to say this once. I would never kill any living creature unless they hurt someone I care about. If anyone here should be angry, it's me. You hurt my Seth and then proceeded to babble off about me killing the Demon King?"
"Who is this child?" The woman growled, taking a step forward.
Like he was ever going to back down. He put his hands out in front of him, welcoming the heat as it circulated through his body to his hands, forming a sword. The different flames licked at him, hot yet surprisingly friendly. "Stay away." He growled darkly and she blinked at it.
"I guess they'll find out about you sooner rather than later," Seth said, wrapping his arms around his middle. "Let me introduce you to Kato Glen, Lucifer's only child and heir to the throne of Hell."
His body stiffened at the introduction but he didn't break away from his sister's eyes. She paused, her mouth open. "C-child...?" She whispered. "But that's impossible! He didn't have a lover!"
"You're not the only one who's surprised," Kato said, rolling his eyes. "Until three days ago, I was a normal kid living in an apartment building. Now I'm heir to a throne, I have a power I've never once used before, and I can see things like demons and angels."
"B-but that's impossible..." She whispered, her sword dispersing and her hands falling limp on her sides. "He loved... another woman..."
Then it hit him. She loved his father. It was kind of creepy, but he understood. She must've loved him for a long time and he never knew.
"I'm sorry for the confusion but we need to go. Seth..." He muttered, backing up.
"Who's your mother? What was your mother?" She asked, her voice dark and cold.
"She was human." He said and gasps sounded from all around. "Now I would like to go back." He said, gripping Seth's hand tightly.
A shiver ran down his spine and he backed into Seth, shaking. "Are you alright?" He whispered in his ear and he slowly shook his head. Seth's hands wrapped themselves around his chest. "Alright. Calm down. We'll get back."
"Wait." His sister looked at him carefully, her face softening. "Are you really his son?"
He nodded and gulped, his vision going blurry. "I... can't... breath..." He gasped out quietly enough for only Seth to hear. He rubbed his belly in response.
"Then rest here for the night. We'll... talk tomorrow." Was she trying to reason with him? "I don't know if I believe you but if you're really his son, then I want to be able to help..." She cleared her throat.
Kato's eyes drooped and another shudder passed through him. Leaning back against Seth, his knees gave way and his eyes closed. He felt himself being lifted and alarmed voices but he couldn't care. He was too tired. He wanted only one thing in that moment. Seth. And he was there, holding him. He knew it. And with that, he allowed himself to drift off, ignoring the pain.
