Chapter #1: Prologue (1)

Hello~ Thanks for reading the first chapter of "The Underground." I'm very excited/nervous about this release because it's not only my first fancomic but also my first "real" comic (my other webtoon, "Life Can Be," is more like doodling with dedication than anything else). I'm trying to make this a monthly installment, though I hope you'll be patient with me since I'm a one-man team!
Also, a bit of a disclaimer (don't read any further if you're not all caught up with AoT manga and OVA's), but my fancomic diverges a bit from the underground city that's shown in the "Choice with No Regrets" OVA and manga. For example, my city is officially called "the Underground." Also, my city only has four gates, not like the 11+ they hinted at in the OVA's. Also, I left out the whole bullshit leg sickness and I-can't-get-to-the-surface-because-I-don't-have-citizenship-slash-money bull as well. Hello? Fake papers? Run away into the forest like Mikasa's parents? What do you mean you can't stay on the surface? Ok, so I get that it's a money issue and everything, but the explanation just seemed so forced in the OVA that I just left all that out. That, and I started pre production/planning back in September before the OVA and several chapters of AoT were released hehe.
BUT, I did get a lot of details right before they were made canon in AoT, like how the Underground has brothels and how Asians were persecuted for reasons other than sexual slavery. I've already planned out the entire plot of the series though, so I hope the other guesses I've thrown in here turn out to be right in the canon as well.
Overall, I tried to develop the world of the Underground on a whole other level than the canonical manga did and I hope I succeeded.
