The thing about me is that "me" is actually "we!" Yes, that's right, we're writing partners working in the fun world of animation. When we're not writing cartoons, we're masquerading as comic writers. And when we're not writing comics, we wish we were masquerading as Batman and Robin (I mean look at all their wonderful toys!). No matter the medium, we just love telling stories, and look forward to sharing them all with you.
In light of the holiday weekend, we figured we'd take a little break this week and share some behind the scenes stuff with all of you!
Before it was "Palm Leaf," we developed this project six years ago as, "The Scroll." While working at Nickelodeon, we intended to pitch it to their Shorts Program. One of our co-workers, Kelsey Eng, did the character designs, while another artist designed the background and did the character colors. Fun Fact: that artist is our good friend, Alan Bodner, who you may recognize as the art director for the "Iron Giant," and "Kim Possible."
The art and the story have come a long way since then, but it's fun to look back at where it all began and share its journey with you.
Wow... you guys are incredible!! It feels like only yesterday we were posting to say thanks for helping us reach over 100 subscribers. Now we're at 376 and growing! Seriously everyone, thank you so much for coming by week after week to see how the story unfolds. It means a lot to us to see Palm Leaf resonating so well with all of you. =)
To those of you who have been here since the beginning, thanks for sticking around! And if you're just discovering Palm Leaf for the first time, welcome! We have a lot of great stuff in store for you guys, so hope you enjoy the ride!
Whoa!! We hit over 100 subscribers today!!! Thanks so much for all your support everyone, we're so happy you're digging the story so far! Rest assured, we have plenty more in store for you guys so stick around, the best is yet to come!
Hi Tjimmy! You're definitely right in assuming Alex and Baboy have indeed had an adventure inside the manuscript before, but you haven't missed anything. When we were coming up with the story for Palm Leaf, we decided to just jump right into it so we could get straight to the action/fun. But don't worry, we definitely have plans to tell that very first origin story at some point! ;) Thanks for checking out the comic, hope you're enjoying it so far!
