The epic narrative that is Cry Baby started out as an idea I had to re-write the Star Wars prequels. The focus of my re-vision was to develop a more authentic and insightful story about why/how a well-intentioned benevolent person can end up mean-spirited and corrupt. After a few years of stringing together loosely tied concepts and plot points I ran out of steam. I needed some additional ingredient to make this epic effort worth while especially since I knew it would take several years to complete the overarching story that I already had in mind. It took another few years before I realized that injecting my own personal history and experience into the narrative was exactly what I needed to inspire me to take on and continue such a long term project. Along the way, I got introduced to the popular anime/manga series Naruto which resonated strongly with my own development from adolescent to teenager (and eventually to adulthood). The result of this concoction is something more than the sum of these parts. At least that is the goal.
