I've been using Tapas for 11 years. First as a reader, then later as a writer. I've posted three mediocre to halfway decent web novels on that platform. I just wrapped up a fight scene in my recent short story.
And now I learn that Tapas is going to shut down. 😔
While this isn't an issue for me creatively, as I've since posted my original stories on different platforms all over the Internet (and I'm really glad that I did in hindsight), this news still stings on a sentimental level.
The first webcomic I ever read on Tapas (then called Tapastic) was Magnolia Online, written by Lucius Merryweather, who has since gone on to become a pretty big name in the indie webcomic space.
If it weren't for the likes of him or other creators like Mayshing (creator of E-Depth Angel), Drake Tsui (a.k.a. Quirkilicious), and WhatAHero (World At Strife/The Witch's Throne) I don't think I would've ever found the courage to pick up a pen or laptop and bring my own ideas to life.
Reading so many indie titles on Tapas was both my escape and inspiration as a teen. So while I can easily move on as a writer, that young reader that still lives within me can't help but feel a little disheartened by this news.
As a long-time reader, I'm going to miss Tapas and all of the memories and conversations I've had with others in this community. It's an experience I'll never forget.
If anyone is reading this, take this time, while we still have it, to read and support the indie creators who have given their all to produce quality storytelling that helped define Tapas for all of these years. I know that's what I'll be doing! 🫡💪💯

It's finally here—the official cover for Part 2 of The Barefoot Girl audiobook! Featuring Frida, a character set to debut in the conclusion to this short story. She is voiced by QueenOfBeans. As usual, Ink Knight expertly crafted the wonderful artwork—this time clocking in at 12 hours to breathe life into Frida and this particular scene! As always, I appreciate your consistent hard work and dedication to this project, partner! 💪💯

Yo, yo!! So The Barefoot Girl has officially been converted into a podcast audio drama series! A subreddit user I met on r/audiodrama has featured Part I on their audio drama directory site.
And now that we have an RSS Feed link to the audio version of the story, it will be possible to listen to it just about anywhere, so long as I make an account for every audio-sharing site out there. 😅
Anyway, this is a huge honor, and I couldn't be more proud of everyone involved with this project. I will ensure that the presentation in Part II will be leagues better than what was done in Part I.

After a wee bit of development hell, Part 1 of Academy Showdown Gaiden: The Barefoot Girl is finally finished and ready to export! Clocking in at approximately 40 minutes and 2 seconds, this story brings anime (and manga)-inspired storytelling to life in a way I’ve been dreaming of for years.
This short fantasy story—first written four years ago—is based on characters my brother, my best friends, and I have been brainstorming for over a decade. It’s part of a vast fantasy universe we started back in high school, though I’ve only been truly putting it all together for nearly eight years now.
There are still a few final touches before I can officially release it—most importantly, test screenings with my cast and creative partners. Since they’ve worked so hard to bring this story to life, it’s only right that they get to watch it first in its entirety.
Also, check out the official cover art of our titular character! This incredible piece was passionately drawn by my good buddy Ink Knight—as always, he perfectly captured my vision!
I can’t thank everyone involved enough for lending their voices, talents, and enthusiasm. Their support gave me the courage to see this project through. Now, I just have to do the same for Part 2 once this one is out! 😅
