If you saw a new series from me that I had set as a placeholder with a random placeholder date I had set way in the future launch or got a notification about it...no you didn't... (I will try to keep a better eye on the random chapter placeholders I set years ago before writing anything LOL)
Today is Rising Shards' fourth anniversary! It's been a bumpy road as of late just in finding time/energy to write mixed with me going through it, but I'm so glad I started the series and made the choice to publish it as a web novel.
I went in wanting to have something I could write that combines all my passions, and to have characters that I could keep writing about for a long time. When I made the tough choice to stop trying to make it for publishers and to make it a web novel for me first, I expected to get maybe 10 subscribers. But we're at over 2,500 now, which is just amazing!
I'm so grateful to have people along for my weird journey about gay dorks being gay, mixing slice of life comedy and romance with fantasy adventures. I'd love to keep growing the series, and I'd really like to get a first edition print run out soon, so look forward to that/hold me to that so I don't forget!
Sometimes I get way too in my head about something that should just be a fun hobby, but I think having something creative you care deeply about can be good for you. With this series, I've been able to work out lots of past sad times, as well as come to a better understanding of myself. In some earlier drafts, I was afraid to write about any gay characters, and now the cast is mostly queer and I get to explore my own gender identity through Rising Shards. I feel like I have so much to say but also am not sure where to start, so I'll just close with saying I'm so happy to have Zeta, Oka, Kalei, Lillia, Diast, Stella, Marmalade, Aira, Iris, Maia, and so many more in my big cast of goofs to write about 💖💖💖💖💖
