I just noticed a few days ago that I had to resubscribe to Carrot Kicki. Did you lose all your subscribers from that? O.O
You are in the right place for animation, Canada. I'm so jelly. ;) I'm an animator too, in America, and finding legit animation work isn't easy here. Do you lend more towards 2D or 3D animation?
Haha Should I combine your names to become Jerayndi or Cynamy? Your comic looks really funny, and exciting to read. I did not lose subscribers because somehow they were notified of the new name change, and I also messaged other subscribers about the name change.
Canada is a great place to live, and create animations. Unfortunately, right now there seems to be a lot of competition for animation work. I've also heard that a lot of animation jobs are going overseas, because the bulk of the labor can be done cheaper in the Philippines and other places.
There are more animation opportunities at game company studios up here in Canada, than traditional animation studios.
I love 2D animation, and feel that I'm stronger in this medium than 3D. My favorite way of animating is with Flash, using puppets. I've been exploring some new puppet techniques with After Effects too. What types of animation do you enjoy creating?
Cyndi or Oops will work. Jeramy is always drawing and never has time to be online so it's usually just me. haha
Darn, I was thinking that Canada wasn't hit by the animation out sourcing. There are so many brilliant animation studios up there. The horror stories of the under paid animators that are getting these out sourcing jobs are just terrible. Some even have to pay their employers to work at the studio for their first 6 months of employment.
I'm a 2D animator, too. Frame by frame animation with paper and pencil is what I excel best at but I also use Toonboom Animate Pro. Good program. At my day job I mostly animate with After Effects. X)
I've also heard of that problem, about artists not being paid at studios, happening in Europe too. It happened to a friend of mine who was working for free, but promised some money later in the production process. I've even heard of artists participating in crowd sourced animation projects, like this one: http://www.true-tail.com I'm not sure what their payment structure is like, but it's an interesting business and production model.
Do you have a website with your animation work on it? I would love to see it. :) Also, if you work in After Effects, this free plugin tool may help you. http://duduf.net/?lang=en
