Prologue: Echoes Beyond Time

In the land of Aethyra, a world woven from sorcery’s breath and the pulse of ancient magic, the present stood brightest at the peak of its arcane age. It was an era where power was no longer whispered but proclaimed from guild halls towering amidst sprawling cities, where guilds ruled as kings alongside monarchs, shaping fate with iron wills and arcane might.

Sorcery was the heart of this realm—raw, boundless, and alive. For those born under its influence, its pulse was the measure of existence. Magic, though prevalent, was lesser—a craft wielded by guild apprentices and craftsfolk, respectable yet pale against the grandeur of true sorcery.

Sorcery bent reality with a thought, shaping stars and realms, and none could rival its highest form: Astral sorcery. This greatest of all branches wove starlight, space, and time into weapons and shields of such power that even the fabric of the world seemed to bend in reverence.

Beneath the shadows of mountain spires lay Aethyra’s oldest bastion—the Dwarven kingdom. Carved deep into rock and rune, it was the mightiest fortress known, a sprawling realm of stone and fire where ancient craftsmanship met sorcery’s art. Its walls echoed with the forging of legendary arms and whispers of realms long past, a testament to endurance and the indomitable spirit of its people.

Eight Luminaries shaped the destiny of the age. Titans of magic and might, each bore burdens heavier than mountains and scars deeper than time itself. Among them, the immortal Archmage Aetherion Ryu was most storied.

Born 1502 years ago, Ryu’s life was marked by tragedy and legend alike. At two years old, his parents were slain by the Broken Oracle—En, one of the Eight Fallen Luminaries—a dark figure whose name still stirred fear and whispered secrets. The murder set in motion a fate stretching across fifteen centuries, forging Ryu’s path through vengeance, sorrow, and growing power.

Cael Azhrael, the half-Dragon swordsman, was a younger force at 700 years old, wielding Draconic Fire and human resolve in a deadly dance of sword and sorcery. His lineage was powerful, ambition fierce, yet his place was still to be carved among legends.

At this zenith of an age, guilds thrived as bastions of control and knowledge. They regulated magic, guarded arcane secrets, and ensured the flow of mana and commerce shaped cities and kingdoms alike. Their influence rivaled the oldest thrones, their halls places where power was brokered, alliances forged, and Aethyra’s future debated beneath banners gilded with ancient sigils.

Yet beneath the brilliance of guild light lay growing shadows. A mysterious presence known only as the Black Figure moved unseen, weaving chaos into the delicate balance of power. Its goals hidden, its touch corrupting, this dark force threatened to unravel the world’s fragile peace.

In the heart of the human capital, where mana’s pulse was strongest and guild halls towered like ancient spires, Ryu began his journey anew—drawn by whispers of the Fallen Luminaries lost in history and shadow. His path crossed with Eira Luneth, a young mage bearing the legacy of a storied lineage still alive after a millennium. And with Cael, fierce and uncompromising, their destinies entwined, sparked by old grudges and new fights.

As stars burned cold overhead and the weave pulsed with anticipation, the echoes of eight legends whispered through the ages, beckoning those brave enough to shape the fate of Aethyra once more.

This was a land of power and peril, of glory and shadow—where every spell held a story, every blade a saga, and every soul a destined echo of a time long past.

In the vast world of Aethyra, where magic shapes all life and sorcery stands above all, countless races thrive—Elves, Dwarves, Beastfolk, Dragonkin, Spirits, Angels, and Demons. Sorcery is an art so rare that only a handful in history have ever touched its depths.

Among them is Aetherion Ryu, a mage who has lived for over fifteen centuries, though the world believes the age of great magic has long passed.

Fifteen hundred years ago, a shadow fell upon Ryu’s childhood. One of the Eight Fallen Luminaries, once celebrated heroes known as Luminaries, now corrupted, fought against his parents. This Luminary—En, the Broken Oracle—met his end that day. From afar, Ryu, only two years old, watched helplessly through Veilpiercer’s Sight, a magic that allowed him to perceive events beyond his reach. He saw the clash, the final breaths of his parents, and even caught a glimpse of a mysterious black figure soaring across the sky for a fleeting second, silently observing the battle.

Ryu survived, cocooned within a barrier that even the gods cannot breach, shielded from the horrors that claimed his family. Though only a child, he could wield magic—but not yet sorcery.

Now, fifteen centuries later, Ryu’s name is etched into history, revered across Aethyra for his discoveries and the creation of entirely new forms of magic. Yet behind the legend lies a quiet resolve, a shadowed past, and a destiny that stirs just beyond the horizon. The echoes of the Luminaries, once heroes and now the Fallen, linger still—and the memory of that black figure, watching, may yet herald a truth long buried…
