Eclipse isn't a normal person. He's a poisonbird. This means he has a physical anatomy similar to a human but unlike humans, wings replace arms and talons replace toes. And of course, rather than eating human food, he ingests poisons and can inject them from his fangs and talons as well.
Despite having fully formed brains and a fully sentient minds, poisonbirds don't have the rights of humans and are treated as property. They are forced to put on shows to show off their flight and inhumanly beautiful singing against their wills, and abuse is common at the hands of their owners. With the fate of poisonbirds uncertain, Eclipse must find a way to secure freedom for both himself and the future of his entire species.
