In Akaphis, everything is supposed to be perfect. Ruled by Markus and Thalia Ryant, the Virtue system the pair invented is heralded as the best way to make people behave. Good deeds earn Virtue points and bad deeds get them taken away. Everything depends on them. Of course, Markus and Thalia are the ultimate arbiters of what is good and what is bad.
And for sixteen-year-old Iralyn, the system is perfect. It's all she's ever known. But life in Akaphis isn't as idyllic as it seems, and what she finds in the shadows shakes her world to its core.
