Chance of Terror is a deeply satirical thriller that begins when a hurricane projected to curve harmlessly out to sea, slams into the North Carolina coast. The new administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)--political donor, wealthy tech entrepreneur, and casual weather junkie--Gale Richards, is tasked with using every tool at her disposal, including her private jet, to find out if human error is to blame or if something that every expert says is impossible just happened--someone attacked the United States with a freakin’ hurricane.

President Henry Clay Stockbridge is a folksy narcissist. His fifteen-year-old son, Web, is the embodiment of white privilege, who also has an encrypted communications link to some friends in North Korea (not really his friends). Kayla and her father, Maurice, are homeless and just trying to catch a break. NOAA scientists and authors of the popular “Act of Todd” blog--Todd, Mark, and Sarah--are just trying to save their jobs. Ri is the sister of North Korea’s supreme leader and she just wants her own island for a summer vacation and will kill to get it. Chance of Terror weaves these characters’ storylines together like grandma working the sewing needles on the front porch of a Norman Rockwell painting. And with another hurricane forming off the coast of Africa, there’s no time for cookies and lemonade.
