Poor Layla Llewellyn, her happy childhood is stripped away from her when her mother abandons the family for another man, then her father commits suicide. She is then passed from one uncaring relative to the next until she is dragged onto a train and across the border where she is dumped onto her final relative, Uncle Bill. Living on the beautiful estate of a Duke, Layla's childhood looks up as Uncle Bill is a loving giant. He adopts her and gives her everything she could ask for. Layla is finally happy again with a family and friends, until she enters puberty and grows into a women. From there, complicated feelings coupled with childhood trauma cause Layla's mind to run away from her.
