There were two sides to every coin. The good and the bad. The wealthy and the poor. The joyful and the sorrow. It was that easy, you flipped the coin and your fate was whichever side it lands on. Yet, sometimes, it's hard to tell just which side of the coin is which.

Adelaide had always lived on the top. Fancy dresses, large houses, endless suitors, her life only grew better with each passing year, or that was what she told herself. Her sister was practically mad, her mother couldn't find the time to spare to see her daughters, and the Governess didn't have anything near a kind bone within her body. Yet, still, Adelaide tried to convince herself that life was perfect, whispering to herself that things could be much worse. She could be sleeping on the streets. She could be have been abandoned, her reputation shattered. She could have been cursed. Life was perfect, and as long as she played her part, as long as she stuck to her role as the perfect angel of a woman, it would be that way forever.

Her fate never seemed to quite line up with her wishes though.
