Jennifer, a very gruff witch, wanders aimlessly until an ambush by some bandits has her find an unusual and noisy travelling companion.
Riordan, tall, blond and good-looking, turns out to be the opposite of Jennifer and despite demonstrating great combat skills he defines himself as "just a simple bard".
Regardless of several arguments the two will have to stick together to survive the story events, this will bring Riordan to discover an unusual side of the girl's personality. Jennifer, in fact, seems to be tormented by a voice going by the name of Ezekiel.

The years that stage these events turn out to be quite adverse for the two who find themselves unwillingly involved in conflicts for power and riots repressed in blood.
