It's well-known that Ariesville is a strange town.

Katarina, however, doesn't care--she just wants to finish high school. She's spent years fighting to make it to the top of her class, and by God she is going to stay there. However, her quest for valedictorian status begins to fall apart when she accidentally befriends the weird new kid in her biology class, Kody.

Suddenly, Kat finds herself mixed up in a world of supernatural mysteries, and learns that some of her classmates aren't what they seem. Worse, something sinister has arrived to lurk in the shadows of their small town, which has become riddled with mysterious disappearances.

After stumbling upon the existence of vampires, shapeshifters, monster hunters, a secret library, and an ancient, possibly magical book, school doesn't seem so important anymore. And as far as Kat is concerned, all the madness started with one person: Kody.
