Frightful & Delightful
By K. B. Howell
Genre: Fantasy, Young adult (ages 13+)
TRIGGER WARNING:
Frightful & Delightful is the first “book” of The Long●Lost Youth series. A series, I'm afraid, that explores difficult topics with a monstrous disregard towards a human's idea of tasteful courtesy. Difficult topics may be as follows (Ah-hem...):
Study of faith, emotional/physical abuse, body shame (Oh my...), drug/alcohol dependency, mental illness, suicidal thoughts/attempts (Am I allowed to say all this?), bigotry, prejudice, spooky spiders...?
Erm.
Foul-smelling lilies, carved pumpkins, screaming pudding, sunlight, garlic, conveniently placed buckets of water, silver, snakes that go hiss, tea-drinking zombies, cherry juice--now how is cherry juice a trigger warning? ...Oh! It does that to imps? Those poor creatures. Okay, let's see here, uh... Silly rants, soiled pants, misplaced rhymes and-- Ah! And that horrible enemy of humanity known as “fear.”
Read, if you must. And may your days be both frightful and delightful.
Thank you.
