It was only the beginning of the day and Damien hated it. All he did was sit down at a desk and everyone around him seemed to move away. They didn’t like him only because his secret got out. He just wanted this day to end so he could go with his siblings at the college.
“Hey, Kitty, when you gonna die yet?” A voice snickered, making everyone else laugh as he curled in on himself ever so slightly. Damien was what people would call, a misfit, it’s a person who isn’t normal and needs to be put in a school filled with others like him.
The only reason Damien was a misfit was due to the black leopard ears and tail that were apart of his body. The teacher walked in and Damien smiled, knowing they'll have to shut up.
After about 45 minutes the bell rang, and Damien dashed out of the class before anything else could be said. As he was about to go into his next class he was pushed into the wall by someone, hitting his head, he slid down the wall as the others just laughed and walked inside.
“Hey, you alright?” His vision was blurry as he looked over, hearing the voice. It was a teacher, he noticed as his vision focused.
“What…” He muttered, leaning back on the wall. Some kids walked over to watch what was happening. Pain shocked through Damien’s head and he closed his eyes. Sirens. People. That’s the last thing he heard before he blacked out.
Damien opened his eyes to see he was in a hospital room. His brother was next to him.
“Glad to see your awake.” The white-haired male mumbled, something seemed to be on his mind.
“Guess I blacked out..” Damien sat up, touching his head and wincing, feeling a bandage, “What did I hit?”
“When they pushed you they planted a couple of nails in the wall.” The other was fidgeting with a pen in his hand.
“Kyle, I’m fine. At least I’m here.” No..I wished it killed me… Damien faked a smile, his eyes having this dull look to them as he looked at his brother. Kyle frowned, unsure about whether or not he was lying.
“Anyway, you’ll be coming to college with us tomorrow. You’ll get a new start with no one knowing.” Kyle ruffled his brother’s hair softly, “Be safe.”
“I will.” Damien watched him leave and slowly stop smiling, looking down at the bed he was in. Thoughts crowded his mind but were interrupted by the sound of a nurse.
"Just coming to take that off your head." She smiled, speaking calmly. Damien nodded, feeling the bandage disappear. The nurse looked at it with a surprised look on her face, “Its already healed over. Weird.”
He saw his brother talking to the doctor, seems like he’ll be getting out of here early.
The two walked out of the hospital and towards Kyle’s car, “So, we already packed your important stuff but you might as well pack anything else. No knives, or guns, I know you have them.”
“Come on! It’s for self-defense!” Damien whined It’s not...it’s for cutting...but he doesn’t need to know that…
“Uhuh, there’s a rule for no weapons, but fine. One knife, that’s it.” Kyle sighed, starting up the car and driving home. Once home Damien ran upstairs to his room, opening a draw on his bed and grabbing the one knife he enjoys most. It was a small pocket knife, but it was the sharpest one he had, the knife could cut his skin with just a small tug.
He put it into his bag, along with a drawing book, sketch stuff and a book. He also grabbed his phone, noticing his charger must have been packed. His laptop was also missing so he knew Phoenix took it. He looked at the time and decided to sleep since it was 8:30 at night.
He woke up and did his daily routine. He then grabbed his bag and walked out to the door, a fake smile plastered on his face as he got into the car with his sister.
“You ready?” She asked, messing with his ears.
“Yeah, also please let go.” He tried to move away but she still got a hold of his ears.
“No, floof.” She laughs as Kyle gets into the car.
“Hands to yourself Phoenix, alright.” He starts the car and drives off.
Damien woke up to the car coming to a stop, it took 5 hours to get there. He got out of the car, getting his stuff and watching his siblings leave into the school to wait for him. He looked back at the gates and closed the car, Kyle locking it. He walked inside and smiled slightly, Maybe it will be better...hopefully…
