The heart is weak, it makes a person act without thinking, so easily crushed… Manipulated… Possessed. Demons took full advantage of this, possessing those mortals and making them lose all control, whatever that’s left that is. So, Gaea; one of earth Guardians goes and creates a bunch of servants for the sole purpose of casting out demons from humans. Nobody knows what these ‘servants’ look like, some people say they’re humans, rumors is convinced they’re angels and conspiracy theorists believe they’re demons.
