Chapter 1
“Do you even know where we are going?” says Ethan, who was perched on a tree branch, watching his comrade below him with his glistening large emerald green and amethyst colored eyes. The night was algid, a thin layer of frost on the earth. They were called to a mysterious manor for a party, a dinner party.
“Of course I do! What do you think I am, a fool?” said Olivia, looking up and him through the thick foliage, her ears perking up and tail slowly swaying back and forth. Ethan scowls and pounces down beside Olivia, startling her a bit.
“Do you think that you could've done that a bit less...erratically?” She says, backing up a little bit, a frightened look on her face.
“Geez, why are you so boring?” He asked, swinging his long black dragon tail.
“whatever, why can’t we just find this place? Can you fly? Go above the trees and look around. I don’t want to miss this party so be quick…” She said, dodging the question with her arms crossed and ears drooping. Ethan rolls his eyes and opens his leathery wings. “Fine, but you’re coming with me!” Before she could say anything, Ethan lunges forward and up, snatching her by the shoulders with his claws, and rose into the mild evening sky. As soon as they were up above the trees, Ethan lifts Olivia into his arms and looks around, then finally spots the very obvious mansion in the distance. “Well that didn’t take too long, it’s right in front of us…” he mutters to himself. “Hold on kid!” He tightens his grip on her and soars towards the building, tucking his legs in for a bit more speed as he swings and dives through the forest.
No more than 8 minutes later, they were safely on the ground in front of the large manor. The exterior of the mansion was bland and seemed boring, the stone around the rim cracking and chipping, as were the columns. The front doors were a beautiful shade of eggplant and turquoise. The bricks that made up mostly all of the manor were dyed Light grey, a few missing or dyed the incorrect shade, a touch darker than the rest. Outside was the greatest garden anybody could see. There were bright red flowers forming amazingly accurate patterns on the ground, with swirls and other formations. The hedges were cut neatly, as were the trees. Everything was covered in frost, beautiful gleaming dots coated everything, making it gleam more. There was a forest surrounding the garden, made of thick and full pines, birds darting in between to escape the cold.
“Welp, looks like we’ve arrived.” Olivia says, looking up at Ethan. He stares straight ahead at the entrance, thinking to himself.
