Mari, better known as Number 350, is a clone living in the partially sunken city of New Atlantis. Set in the far future, society can be broken down into two types of people. The Elevated who live up high above the flooded streets, and the Drowners who live in the city decaying below them.

But even a Drowner has more than a clone.

Forced into the housing projects in the Drowning districts, the clones must earn the privilege of a roof over their head from morning to night. Food is rationed, and drinking water is toxic at best. Despite all this, the masses of clones created by companies looking to make a quick buck now are eating up the city's already limited resources. And after an incident where a clone attacked an Elevated tower, most people want them out of the city for good.

One man, Darius Edden, and his blind son, Ky, have a solution--recall all the clones. And the Marilyns are the first on their list.

After a long night playing a game in the V-World, Mari finds her home and family of sisters in ruins. If she wants to live, she has to run. Only things don't go smoothly, and she ends up face to face with Ky Edden. In a split moment, she makes a choice that changes the course of their lives forever.

Stuck with a companion she doesn't trust, Mari learns there's more to the affluent Elevated boy than she thought. Ky, pushed into circumstances he never dreamed of, finds everything he has ever known turned upside down as he gets to know Mari.

But running will only get them so far, and if Mari ever wants to see her family again Darius and his ECCO team need to stopped.

And the only one who can help her might be the villain who started it all.
