"Hmhmhm, it seems you're quite the interesting guest." A voice that was deep and somewhat eerie spoke out to me. "Welcome, Phoenix Princess."
When the voice welcomed me, my eyes opened, and I began to search the area around me. I…Was I floating amongst the stars? Was I a star? What was going on here?
"Hmhmhm," he chuckled at my confusion, and I heightened my senses and focused on the chuckling man. He kept his face hidden with a shadow that was cast by his hood.
"what can I do for you?" I said.
"Oh? Aren't you going to ask why you are here or even ask who I am?"
I took my two pointer fingers and began to twirl them around each other. "well, would you tell me if I ask?"
"Ask and see."
I sighed and rolled my eyes. "Fine, where am I, and who are you?"
"I ain't telling! HAHAHA!"
My eyebrows frowned, and my lips soon followed. "Pssh, I knew it."
A beam of red light was cast from the shadows of his face as he pointed to me. "You, the one who possesses the soul of the Phoenix, is selfish."
"Excuse you?"
"hmhmhm… You have chosen a path to your own desires and wellbeing." I gasped as his words left me speechless. "Phoenix, you may have escaped your destiny, thus bringing forth a new one; one that will be your demise."
"Shut up!" I said with my eyes closed and fist clutched. "You know nothing! Tell me? Tell me how am I selfish!? Is it because I want to follow my dreams, or find my own happiness? That's the reason I'm selfish and must die!?"
I waited for an answer, but nothing ever was heard. I opened my eyes, and what was found was a cold glare being given to me. His face still wasn't visible, but his bright red eyes were able to shine through the shadows.
"Hmhmhm, you should know by now that nothing is absolute. You turned the hands of fate once, and you can do it once more. If you believe you are truly selfless, then prove yourself; take on the burdens of the ones closest to you. Be the lamp that lights their way in the darkness. Only then, you'll find salvation and absolution."
"Salvation?... Absolution?" I whispered under my breath. What did he even mean? "Enough with this mysteriousness! Just say what you mean!"
"Answers are not given but is found by those who seek it. Now go, face the path you forged with your own selfish desires."
