Description
Deep in the earth, the fallen Citadel is home to a blind young woman who is the sole survivor of the massacre of her people. In order to find her way home, she must call upon the Deep, the nothingness below. So, she gives the Deep a pomegranate for a heart, and summons an endlessly curious and vivacious shade named Mosel. But even as they navigate the overgrown fortress and cross the treacherous Mote beyond, they realize that Mosel has a limited time above the Deep. Can their intertwined destinies keep Mosel alive until they reach Shira's home and Mosel returns to the Deep?
This is a gay little short story I wrote using themes from Jewish mysticism and folklore. Thanks for reading and enjoy!
