I am trying to figure out where I am going with my other series but this is something else I have been working on.
When the world was young there was one being. There was one who sat and watched the empty Earth. This one was Odin. Odin the father of all, through his seed, formed all life on the planet. Be it winds, land, sea, or monster animals they were his children. Then he made his greatest accomplishment, he made man, a race of intelligent thought similar to him but not completely like him.
No matter how much he tried they were all mortal. That is to say, he himself was not completely immortal. He still bleeds, though his blood was blue, and most likely he could die. Odin longed for someone who had power like him so he was not alone, his power was unfathomable, he was fast strong so much so that's two others he seems to vanish and reappear in another place. As time progressed he learn to use his power to create a focused beam of energy this he used as a staff and with it he wielded great power.
Still, he longed for someone like him. As the world he had made grew not all loved him as a father and so the make peace he created a place where he could rest far from the eyes of man, Asgard. An island unreachable by any who did not bare the blood fo a god. Still, he longed for humans, so he would often travel the world an old man with staff looking for a companion with whom he could share his travels.
On one such travel he was faced with a lion he did not wish for the Beast to die but it was killed or be killed. As he stood facing the Beast a cry was let out from across the way. A warrior clad in armor Rushed at the Beast and fought to save who they thought was an old man. Odin had not seen such valor in a human whose species was mostly greedy and selfish. And after the battle he tried something he never had before, he offered the warrior his blood. Power surged through the warrior and they were the second god.
Removing her helmet The Warrior knelt before Odin and he named her Ase first of the Valkyrie. Here was the second god and first Valkyrie and she and Odin made the old rules of which no god could break not even them.
A mortal may be claimed or claim a god but once it is completed no other god could command them.
A god may not kill another god unless there is a unanimous vote
One god shod be the ruler and all others should follow
Any mortal who kills a god shall be given that gods status
A god serve another god and be claimed
A god can only make the most valent humans a god
These rules were sealed by both gods and because of this neither could be claimed. Over the years many other gods joined the two Thor and Loki where among the first. Odin took a wife, the most beautiful human who risked her life for innocent children she became the "goddess" of family, among other things, Freya. Thor struck down by lightning defending helpless was made the god of thunder. Loki a common Thief risked his life and gave it to save innocence was made the god of mischief. And as time grew the "gods" became more powerful and more divine believing they were Superior, all except for the first Valkyrie.
She only made women who are found killed in Valiant battle. These she made Valkyrie the protectors of Asgard. Odin grew to fear the power of the Valkyrie and so he decreed all Valkyrie should be bound in a claim to him. All agreed except the first Valkyrie who saw Odin's jealousy for what it was, she refused and because she could not be killed she was given a worse fate.
She was Doomed to live in the hearts of a volcano and only a valiant warrior full of Courage could rescue her. If they did rescue her they would be married and on their death, she would return to her place of imprisonment. Her punishment was to watch all she loved die over and over again. And so Odin became a tyrant seeking power and never letting any gain more than him. The Valkyrie loyal to Odin still held loyalty to their first Valkyrie as well and as such could not take any commands that would contradict that's of the other.
But everything changed with an orphan.
